For our retirement years, we were looking for a 7,000 lb TT (+/-500) and planned to buy a conversion van (3500) to go with it. I asked a few questions, but mostly read as much as I could on the rv.net groups over the last six months. I have been camping with pop-ups for the last 40 years and had enough exciting towing experiences to realize that we really wanted to be on the safe side of the towing equation.
We had never even been in a pickup truck before, but after listening to all of your ideas and seeing how nice they could be, we ended up getting a 2015 3/4 ton truck with a big V-8. You really convinced me that I would have a better towing experience with the 18" wheels, max towing package, OEM super-extended towing mirrors and the integrated brake controller. We are very pleased with all of the integrated towing features and look forward to buying a TT in the spring, without most of the weight considerations that had previously limited our choices.
