The "old girl" needs a new mate......

The โ€œold girlโ€ needs a new โ€œMateโ€
Mates bones are broken and posture sagging
It keeps on performing but results are lagging
They are the same age, but she can be mended
Mate has more issues than can be attended
Facelifts, parts and repairs for both have been clever
And old girl performs younger and stronger than ever
But Mate looks old and performs with concerns
So the hosts are inclined, with Mate, to take a new turn
So they examined the options and a new Mate selected
But it had to be built and then collected
So they selected a time for a new Mate to be โ€˜madeโ€
And the hosts agreed it was a new HOST Cascade.
So the deed has been done and a new mate requested
Next, a quest far out west to pick up and be tested
Old girl and new mate joined for a brand new chapter
Never forgetting before but looking to after

Inanimate objects gain our affection
They help build fond memories for family reflection
They pass in the same way our family members end
Giving their all until they pass with the wind
And so, as with us, age is the test
Mate is functional and capable just not at its best
No firm plan is formed but local use seems the way
To keep this old soldier productive each day

Many years Mate has been the choice and passion
Central to mental health, rest, even shopping and fashion
The affection that exists for such an inanimate object
Surprises the hosts too, except that its clear
Their lives would be much different had it not been there

MrPhelps, I seem to remember your Host tangled with a tree and had to be "fixed". I don't think that quite qualifies as expected use. That being said, I have no idea if other problems you experienced were at all related to that impact or not.

Have fun with the new one, and I hope the weather holds. It's been pretty good lately other than the one snowy day.

Mate was a baby :(.

She barely had twelve years on her (And really doesn't say good things about Host's earlier products if they are badly sagging after only 11 years).

Put in service in October 2005. I agree, at least concerning their 11.5' Yellowstone model...

The "bed overhang" floor flexing issue that persists may not be as problematic on the shorter older floor plans.

My '06 Host is in like new condition with the exception of the decals and slide awnings. That show sun damage.

Over 250K miles on that old Yellowstone camper. Have used it continuously. Have taken it in some rough areas and extended trips. it was also a 1st generation aluminum frame double slide. All in all it held up pretty well. I knew the risks when I bought it and have kept it going. It is still being used just not in the same aggressive ways of the past.. I still own it.

I wouldn't be buying another Host if I didn't think they build a quality product.
