Things for the new travel trailer

Will be picking up our new travel trailer the second week of December and need to purchase some items to take with us for out trip home. Anyone have any good or bad things to say about the Anderson Rapid Jack and the Anderson leveling and chock set. Infinite adjustment for leveling seems a no brainer and with a tandem axle trailer the rapid jack seems to be much better than putting your self in danger on the side of the interstate to get a jack under the trailer or have to lay in the mud. Any suggestions or feelings are more than welcome.

Expensive hype IMHO. We quit using it 10 years ago and never had an issue.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it hype. But, it may be unnecessary .I use the test for normal TP below to make sure things keep working.

I have a post that covers a lot of what you *need*, things you should have, and even a few wants. The actual needs for the first trip out are very short.

Hope it helps.

My advise to everyone who is getting a new camper and beginning to stock it.... don't forget the potato peeler. (really)! And the wine cork screw!

We have electric mattress cover. Like it, but can't compare to elec blanket because we've never had one.

If possible, it's not the worst idea in the world to camp near a Walmart the first night.

Zip ties ! A couple of different sizes. Marine (dual wall) heat shrink tubing, multiple sizes.

Heavy stainless steel safety wire (0.040) is the best bailing wire you can get (double or triple if you need more strength) and it comes in a convenient container.

Get yourself a Harbor Freight 2" x 30' recovery strap (no hooks !) and 2 or 3 properly sized anchor shackles. (Hooks can tear metal; loop the strap over something solid and connect the end with the shackles.) Because you never know !

Tire Plug Kit

I prefer the Powerbuilt hydraulic jack with builtin jack stand. Much more versatile.

They only work with electricity. Screw that - it's camping.

Actually it's not camping unless you have a microwave.

In addition:
Good quality surge suppressor such as a Progressive Industries EMS-PT30.
Good sewer dump hose and fittings.
Fresh water hose
Water pressure regulator
There are numerous other items to consider but this should get you started.

That's what I would say too.

Somewhat later on there will be one important thing you will need: a clear space on a shelf in the garage to put all the stuff you buy that you really don't need and never use. 🙂

While camping we have had people borrow matches, needles, sugar, axes. tarps. chairs for when they had company, clothes lines and clothes pins, plastic table cloths to go over picnic tables which seldom look real clean. Lots more but that is all I can think of now.
