11000 miles w camper/16k total and they still there, but I used 3 bolts on each as I have slot in the bracket.

I have a drill motor that will do the job, but keeping that thing engaged while drilling may be something requiring some "shade tree" engineering. Torklift has the tool for free use (except for 2 way shipping charges and deposit).
