Towing Both?

Has any one towed a TC and travel trailer at same time? Dw wanted a bigger camper for our planned 5 month stay this season in upstate NY. Went to the darkside and purchased a 2016 Jayco 33 rsks TT. GVWR is 9200 lbs and dry weight is 8300 lbs. hitch rate is 800 lbs. already having withdrawals and looking at used TCs. Can this be done with my new truck?

I wouldn't worry about a super hitch. I think you can get a WDH on up to an 18" extension which would easily handle the trailer you are talking about.

The thinking with the 815 is if pulling the trailer, you really wouldn't be staying out long enough to need the shower so the shower draining into the black tank isn't an issue. Or bypass the shower to drain into a bucket and then pour the bucket into the gray tank which is larger in the 815.

But, if you want to use the TC while the trailer is far away, something like the 915 would easily work with a longer extension. If you needed too, you could always go with a Superhitch for just feeling safer about it.

You only need a superhitch if you go long with the extension. For a shorter one, a 2.5 hitch extension should be fine assuming the Ram has that stock.

This is what I tell the wife every time she wants a trailer, sure we can bring one of those too.

I'm set up to pull the boats we use for ocean fishing, this is why we have the camper to begin with...

True but some 8 1/2 Tcs hang over. My 8 foot 6 Adventurer did too.

Why would you want a super hitch? Don't need it with a short camper, no hitch extension.

Yes truck is 2015 Ram CTD 3500 Laramie longhorn DRW 4x4 long bed Exhaust brake 6 speed 68 RFE 3:73 ratio with Factory exhaust brake and Alcoa wheels. Exactly what I was thinking Kholdad, Maybe a lance 835 instead of lance 815. Seperate black and grey tanks. Definitely stay 9.5 and under. Might just store TT up there in winter and just use it seasonally too. Will Torklift super hitch be the way to go?

Since you have a long heavy load, I would recommend a 9.5 or shorter TC. When we retire and get tired of the TC, one option we are considering is a 30' TT and something like my 815. This would give us the large space for longer stays at a base camp, but still have the TC when we find the perfect spot for an overnight stay. Sometimes, you just have to be there when the sun goes down or comes up. With my 815 and SRW 3500, I still have 1600# available on the rear axle GAWR so have plenty to handle the hitch weight. Plus, I do not need an extension since the TC ends at the back of the rear bumper.

I see trucks with TCs towing all of the time. The biggest issue is whether the hitch will work or not. If you have an extension, the hitch has to be strong enough to handle the tongue weight at the extended distance.

You also aren't describing what TC you are hauling and what that weight is but for payload, you are probably going to be ok.
