go to e trailer and replace brakes and plates. if your trailer is older I would replace the hubs at the same time. cheap enough plus all will be new including the bearings.

For retrofit, if your axle is a torsion-type Dexter and has mount flanges installed, you can buy parts to add brakes for less than a hundred dollars a wheel. Maybe far less, depending on size.

Not a complicated install for the average do-it-yourselfer.

If you're just repairing some you already have, the guts are also available, simple to install, and are of course cheaper.

New brake assemblies are around 50 dollars a wheel complete.

Need more information.
If you are looking at costs do replace brakes, doing it yourself or hiring a shop? Are you considering replacing wheel bearings and seals at the same time (recommended)?
You need to know your axle make, model #s. Look on the axle to get this information.
Etrailer or Eastern Marine (online) should have the parts you need. It is easier and more cost effective to replace the entire brake assemblies with new plates than replacing individual shoes, magnets, etc. Already come assembled just bolt them on.

Take my posts for what they are, opinions based on my own experiences.
