Trailer Storage Humidity Control

I just returned from my first trip in a 16' Jay Feather Ultra Light. I had to re-winterize it because we are still freezing here in Buffalo, NY. The trailer will sit for at least one month. I plan to park it near my barn and plug it in to AC to charge the battery. How can I prevent it from getting that musty odor inside. Should I crack the roof vent? High winds, swirling snow and awful weather are common here.
Thanks for any ideas.

X2. This stuff works
How is it different from Damp-rid?

No difference. They work the same way. One is more pellet shaped, the other more of a flake shape. You will need to buy the special container that they are used with.

Same here. I tried some of the other methods mentioned and when we finally switched over to the dehumidifier it really made a difference. If the trailer has access to electricity I would suggest the dehumidifier.

we often leave a bottle of peppermint oil open in the trailer for the winter. it helps with smell and supposedly helps keep some of the critters out. We also put bounce dryer sheets around the TT. ours ends up smelling better at the end of winter than it does sitting for a month in our summer humidity.

another suggestion for moisture control. We bought an air circulator from West Marine. It is a plug in unit, round aluminum with plenty of holes in the top about one foot in diameter. Plug it in and check it every month or so. No moisture, no mildew, no condensation in the camper last spring at all. We did not notice any increase in our electric bill at all.

Hello Buffalo....Being from Orchard Park I can tell you it's not an issue until the thaw comes. Suggest you install a Max Air vent cover on your roof, leave the vent open for the musty air to escape & fresh air to enter. If your not familiar with Max Air Google it. Believe me....problem solved for $35.00.

if you use dri Z Air put the container in the sink. I have seen times when it takes out so much moisture that it over flows the container and onto the floor or the table. use the sink and the over flow goes down the drain.

X2 on this, plus a couple of shallow pans of charcoal briquettes seem to do the job as well.

We have had a boat for over 20 yrs in the northeast. Storing it in the winter, shrinkwrapped, out in 20-50 degree weather until it is opened to clean and prep for the summer. I have used a mixture of kitty litter and calcium chloride in a plastic tub. Four throughout the boat. Kitty litter on the bottom to absorb the water that the CC draws. When we open the boat in the spring, the plastic buckets are almost 2/3 full of water and there is no mildew growth on the headliner.

cheap and easy solution!

PM me if you have ?'s
