I tend to have time off between the 22 of Dec & maybe the 5-10 of Jan from work?

& thought being our last Christmas trip was so ice covered & snow filled might someone know of a good route during this time frame to stick along our southern boarder?

I'm in Los angeles & can imagine going into just the border of Texas?
& then heading back to AZ to visit my Mom?

All input is appreciated?

Other wise if it looking like a mild Winter I might want to visit a friend in Ut & the maybe the four corners?

I will be living in truck camper around Yuma this winter making trips into Mexico on my days off if you want to join. I also would like to find someone interested in doing the mojave rd. If you are passing through say hi.

You only have to go as far as Yuma Arizona for warmer weather. And keep to the low elevations for warmth. If weather turns too warm then move to higher elevations.
Big Bend Nat Park is a long way. . . when you said "border" I thought you meant the Texas/New Mexico border. Lots to see and do without traveling that far.

If that way make sure and stop by Carlsbad Caverns NP if you haven't been there. Camping at Guadalupe NP also.

If crossing I-10 Kartchner Caverns State Park near Benson AZ is also really nice. It might be quite crowded there and reservations to tour the cavern would probably be necessary. There is also a famous canyon for birding south of Fort Huachuca right there.

The National Park is open then and there is good camping in the general area as well as other sites such as the River Road and Marfa and The McDonald Obsevatory.
Freezing Temps are not common, but it happens. And by general area, remember that it is west Texas. Very vast. I love the area, mainly because, there are few people and it is beautiful.
Southern New Mexico and Arizona are not bad for visiting on the way or back home. Whatever you do, I hope you have a great trip and keep that old Lance rolling.

Looks like you were posting a link?
That did not work?

Seems this area will be closed in Dec?
