Some additional information:
A quick search yields that a bright white LED light will attract bugs.
Source.
Perhaps not as effectively as an incandescent light but in this case, the LED was the only light source in the truck camper and it was an intense, concentrated light source. That is why in this case it worked as well as it did.
Found this too.
Do fluorescent lights attract bugs?
In fact, a study to determine how the type of light bulb used affects the number of bugs attracted found that incandescent light bulbs attracted the most insects (with fluorescent bulbs coming in second), while LEDs, particularly those with a warm color temperature, attracted the least bugs.Sep 14, 2017
An incandescent light would work best if you have one.
Reading about bugs and light, Mosquitoes and blood sucking insects are attracted to infrared and most others to white-blue-violet bug zapper light if you want best results.
It's kind of turning into a science project. The object is turning your fan into an auto ejecting bug zapper/slicer/dicer!
