Walking on TT Roof

Hello all. I have a 2013 Keystone Passport Ultra Light TT. I need to be able to get up on the roof to clean the roof and to also perform maintenance such as resealing with Dicor or Eternibond tape. However, Keystone states that the roof is not meant to be walked on. How do I perform maintenance and clean it then? The TT is 34' long and I really need the ability to get up on the roof and perform maintenance. Anyone else have any suggestions/tips on how to do this?

Thanks in advance!
Regards,
JT

I use a 10 step ladder and just reach out across and them move to the other side works pretty good

Anything to distribute your weight is good. I use blue or pink 1 1/2" insulation board. It's relatively cheap, extremely light weight, doesn't rot, and won't tear a hole thru the rubber roof when moving it around. I also use it to lay on when crawling under my truck to work on it.

I've used that blue thick insulation board before it's easier on the knees and a bit lighter then plywood but u get the same effect 😉

use the plywwod as they said....but there is no need to clean the roof....in fact if it is an EPDM rubber roof cleaning it actually shortens the life....ever see an office building roof cleaned....its the same stuff and never use anything on it that has petrochemicals in its formula. Cleaning and treating is all hype.

Use sheets of plywood that will span between the rafters and then make your foot print as wide as possible. If you are heavy like I am you may even need to lay down and scoot. I also lay a heavy blanket under the plywood to protect the roof. Rounding the pointy corners of the plywood could prove helpful as well.

I used to do things like a sheet of plywood or boards to spread out the load. Now I just crawl and try to distribute my weight where the rafters are. My roof is 1/4" OSB. I get up there pretty much every year. It's 11 years old now and no damage. I also wrap towels around the ends of ladder with duct tape to avoid damaging the side of the trailer.

Had the same issue a few weeks ago so I wrote the company. They said I needed to use a small sheet of plywood under foot like the old cement finishers. I can reach most on my TT from a ladder, except for checking the AC.

Email the manufacturer they will let you know.

If Keystone says it's not a walk on, you probably should stay off it. Some lightweight trailers have used luan board on the roof.
I purchased an 8'step ladder to clear snow off mine but that will not help to put sealer or tape on the seams.

mind that putting a ladder up on the side of keystone, you might put a hole in the side of the roof. I did on mine and had to seal the holes. So wrap carpet or something around the ladder to prevent this

Put a ladder up against the side and climb up there. Most all RV's roofes are fully capable of supporting an adult. At least as long as your not gorssly obese.
