Water pumpi

De-winterizing my trailer and got all the antifreeze out of the lines. Unfortunately now the pump won't draw anymore water out of the fresh water tank. It will suck it out of a bottle but nothing when I reattach the line to the tank. Any thoughts?

Well ended up being a simple (stupid) solution. Needed more water in the fresh water tank. Indicator showed 2/3 full. Added 25-30 gallons. Working like a champ now. Thanks for all the suggestions!

How long should it take to fill water heater and have steady flow?

Most water pumps for RV's are designed to pump 3 gallons a minute. That speed can be restricted if the water lines are smaller in diameter.

From completely empty, it takes about 5 minutes to fill my 6 gallon water heater, (and my pump is 3 gallons a minute pump) that includes bleeding all the hot water lines (faucets) too. I have 3 fauctes ... 2 sinks inside and an outside sink.

Valves in your photo are correctly set for Normal Operation (water heater in service)

Normal
Cold inlet OPEN (bottom white line)
Hot outlet OPEN (top red line)
Bypass CLOSED (white/red lines)
Water flows in bottom ...flows out top

Bypass
Cold inlet CLOSED
Hot outlet CLOSED
Bypass OPEN
Water goes from cold to hot without going thru water heater
Bypass OPEN

That is an Atwood WH....electric element is under that protective cover at bottom
Is it time for your medication or mine?

If you can't get the pump to prime, there is info in this link.

I'm going to try completely filling my fresh water and use my external pump to run water through the city water connection until I know all the lines are full.

How do I post pictures on here from a cell phone?

It is very simple to put pictures into your post on these forums. To post photos do the following.

1. Upload your photo, one at a time, to this site.

2. Copy the resulting URL.

3. Paste the URL directly into your post with NO modifications. Do not add or subtract anything from the URL.

Your picture will then appear in your post and be properly sized for use on the forums. Do the same for each additional photo.

You just Upload, copy, and paste.
If you would like to practice doing that, just go to this thread that I started in the DIY forum to try out the app.

Upload the photo to a photo hosting service.
I use PhotoBucket, but there are others. The photo hosting site will give you a url for the photo. Post that url here between "{img}" and "{/img}" but use square brackets instead of the curly brackets I used. I am going to post a photo below. You can quote this message and look at how I did the url. FWIW, both dogs and the MH I am driving are all gone now.

My water heater was three valves. Cold in, Hot out and bypass.

In bypass mode the in and out valves are turned across the pipe, the bypass valve is turned with the pipe.

In working mode the bypass valve is turned across the pipe and the in and out valves are turned with the pipe.

For ball valves the handle is oriented so that when the handle is across the pipe it is closed and conversely when the handle is in line with the pipe the valve is open.

Right now the valve handles for the upper and lower water lines are going in the same direction as the water lines. So that would be horizontal. The bypass that runs vertical, I have the valve handle horizontal as well.
