Whazoo's Thanksgiving #37, give or take

This is an old one by now, Thanksgiving 2016 seems like a different time and place. Maybe because of all the snow this year in the west and the fact that only a few days in two months have been above freezing. This, our first full winter after moving to Meridian Idaho from Phoenix. Have a great day and maybe you could come help me shovel snow here in Meridian Idaho...

Hi ya Steve, So no open land in England? I can't say I knew that but it doesn't seem to slow you down. Watching your trip reports over the years show me that the world is your oyster, and I admire that. What travels! In the meantime Steve I'll just say it out loud here, Boise is the gateway to the entire western U.S., just in case you didn't know lol. If you're close at some point and have time , a pow wow would be nice. Thanks Steve.

DJ! Oh don't say that, I haven't checked the weather in a while, thinking it was almost over. Hey is that your electrifying snow blower I see? I'll buy it lol. We'll arm wrestle for dinner.

Hey there Tizi, It's been a while, and its nice to see another alumnus still here. Hope you're getting good use out of the camper these days. Lol I see the link to an old animation, thanks for that, those were some good days. Thanks Tizi, best to you...

OK Dave, you're gonna have to knock this off!!! You're not helping me not miss my TC!!!! Outstanding TR as usual. Supposed to snow more the next couple days but turn to rain Friday. Spring??!!

If it does snow much more I'll be over with one of these guys. I have to help another friend in your area recovering from hip surgery.

Our turn to buy dinner!!

Lovely pictures as usual Dave, and great to see both of you and your four-legged companions enjoying familiar surrounding.

Sounds like you are starting to suffer the same problems we get on my side of the Atlantic (I mean land access, not snow), though here it is more a factor of the high population density. But basically camping outside of a campground is no longer permitted in England, though still a possibility in Scotland. 4x4 trails are diminishing rapidly - being reclassified for pedestrians / bikes / horses only.

We'll be 'out west' in June, so may be looking to use some of the BLM distributed camping (though nothing offroad).

Hahaha Bill, let's hear it for Uncle Bill and his Pappy Van Winkle cream. Does it take care of bags under the eyes too lol? And yes, landing like a sack of sand seems to be my new specialty. Nice to see you Bill!

"So long for now Amigos. I've got to go hang upside down on my back swing for a bit. Like I say, back surgery actually went well in November but as I was telling my wife to be careful on the ice one morning, yes I flipped straight up and came straight down on my new back. Now I can hardly walk/move. What a rotten deal. Lynn has had to do most of the snow shoveling this winter, of which there's been a ton, while I watch and sip...beer. Ok not really. If anything I've said has come across the wrong way, I apologize. I understand now the issue so many have with physical issues being coupled with pain med issues as I no longer feel in control. Thanks to you all for being such fantastic people to know!!"

Uncle Bill says 5 fingers of Pappy Van Winkle will cure almost anything.

I have the distinct problem of having bovine grace coupled with bovine weight. Thus ice doesn't work well for me. I was walking my son's dog one icy evening and did a Wily E Coyote slip, go horizontal at 3' above the ground followed by a sack of rice flop and a broken rib. The Navajo rez dog (named Zero) gave me a smug look as he walked around me in 4 paw drive. Until that moment I really loved that dog.....

Take care of yourself! Your the only Wahzoo we have!

Hello Bryan ol buddy, yes please, I need help. I can hardly walk right now and the snow isn't going anywhere fast. Maybe you could pull me around on a sled? I know it's a lot to ask lol, I'm not a light load hah.

Sorry Rex, come again? Ah, yes I am aren't I? And have been for quite a while. You almost got that one by me...

Howdy Tiger! Yes that sand was pretty cool. It's not everyday you get to walk on frozen sand or see colors like that. Thanks Tiger!

No kidding Ranger Tim, we are incredibly excited about living here. We used to live in Bend Or many years ago before Phoenix. We always missed Bend but now love this area and hope to see much much more. Our last year there we had a ton of snow too, we love it!! Thanks Tim, I'll see ya.

Hello Magic43, Thank you for sharing your reply!

Thanks also USAFBill!

Hi Exhaustipated, I'm glad to hear from you this fine morning. Have a wonderful day!

Ah Camper Jeff! Yes those dogs are hams, they get that from their Mom lol. Wait, what?

Hey Crosscheck Dave, Yes yes, shoes full of sand, burrs, rocks, just like your shoes. Remember the days when we used to have to empty our pants cuffs outside. All the things we would have in those cuffs at the end of the day? Maybe a small frog, collections of the day. Ah well, we keep collecting don't we?! See ya Dave...

Hi Grant, Glad to know you're still kicking around God's Country. And yes, we can only hope.

Patrick, I appreciate your response, have fun being lost. Wish I could be lost...

Hey Nemo! Alaska you say? I have another good friend taking his new TC there this coming summer. You do know right, that Boise is the gateway to Alaska? Haha, see ya Ben, have a fabulous time. That is also one of my dreams!!

Clarryhill!! Yes those doggies do love a good camping trip. We have a ton of fun with them, they're not boring dogs lol. Thanks very much for your time and I'll hope to see you again soon.

06Fargo, like back...

Slickrock Steve, Oh man, you're taking trips I can only dream of. That's why I make mountains out of my molehills via trip reports. I can only imagine how much fun you must have. Thanks a lot Steve, wander on Amigo.

Cal, no to depanting? Well it was close I can tell you butt I agree, it's hard getting those stretch jeans to fit anymore. See ya sometime Cal, wander up this way and we'll find us a dirt road to explore.

Hi Prof, Hey those are great pics on your website of Basin and Range. I can't wait to see some for myself. You are one hiking son-of-a-gun, I'm envious as I can hardly walk right now. Back surgery didn't go well so now I'm taking pain meds and steroids. I can hardly stand them. I hope to hike some of those trails someday, leave breadcrumbs for me please hah! Thanks mucho for your note.

Ah GpnAZ, you know Mark, I'm never impressed with my own pictures, but I'll say that was one fantastic sunrise. I'm about ready to go back to a point and shoot, that way I will accept them for what they are, a picture of a memory, not artwork. Hi to Sue Mark, wish we could go bowling...

NEOK, I agree to the dogs being entertaining, just wish I had the energy to entertain them lol. Sorry to hear about there knee. I was kneed once too. Here's my take on an ice pack for the knee. This way you drink a beer and keep it cold at the same time. When you're finished drinking all the beer, no pain!

FordDiesel250, Thanks very much, it was a great time. I'll hope you've had some good times recently too!!

Thanks for another great post Dave. Your pictures and dogs are so entertaining. My TC is tucked away for the winter in the garage while I recover from total knee replacement surgery so your post came at a great time.
