When I do not have electric and am boondocking, I use a Honda 3500I Generator. It will run almost everything except 2 AC's at a time. Most people who have 2 AC's either run the main unit during the day, then switch to bedroom unit at night. Or, just run main unit all the time. I have never had an issue in 2yrs of owning my 5th wheel. You do have to pay attention on what is plugged in. You cant have AC, Fridge, and Water Heater on electric. I switch fridge and water heater over to propane. Personally, if I was just starting out, I would buy 2 Honda 2500I companions generators. They are smaller and easier to store and carry. I have a Ford F350 super duty so my generator always stays in the back of my truck.Re: I need new TiresI just installed these. https://www.herculestire.com/tire-details/Hercules/H-901%20ST I probably went over board as my trailer is a Grand Design Reflection 295RL, however, if you have ever traveled I_65, I-57, I-40, I-10, you will know why. Havnt had time yet to weigh the trailer with full tank of water, black tank full, and gray tank, but according to spec sheet, my GVWR IS 10195 #S and my GAWR ( each axle ) is 5100 #s? Have you purchased from Walnut Ridge or Modern Trailer RvDoing research on a new 5th wheel. I am looking at Montana High Country or Keystone Avalanche. Walnut Ridge carries the Montana High Country and Modern Trailer carries the Avalanche. Both models have similar floor plans but some different options. Montana High Country : Electric Leveling, option to purchase slide toppers; 3000 # rated towing hitch. Keystone Avalanche : Hydraulic leveling, no factory option slide topper, 300# max accessory hitch ( bike carrier etc) What I am more interested in service after sale. How well does each service department work with y’a to get things fixed in a timely manner. Yes I am well aware of Keystones reputation. However, Modern Trailers offers something called RV warranty forever that covers something like 85 components. Is it worth it or not. One draw back is you have to bring trailer back to Modern Trailer every year for inspection and pay a fee of 175$ to keep your warranty forever .In the market for new trailerCurrently own a 2008 Starcraft 2700BH. It has served me well however, it is beginning to show its age. I have narrowed my selections down to the following manufacturers. Artic Fox ( North Fork 32A ) Keystone ( Laredo 330RL) Jayco(Eagle HT 272RBOK / 274CKDS) and Winnebago (Voyage V 3235RL / V2730RB or Mini (2701RBS,) Mini Plus 27rbds / 30RLSS ) I am looking at the 30-35 ft range, with hitch weight not more than 1500 #'s. Mostly interested in rear living, rear bath or kitchen. I own a 2016 F350 6.7 super duty ( diesel ) with 6.5 foot bed. My other issue is, I live in a dealer dessert. Keystone dealers are 1.5 away,) Jayco ( almost 3 hrs ) and I think Winnebago maybe 1hr or so. As far as specific models, I really like a Jayco models above that I mentioned. In the same price point, I think Jayco Offers more per $ in other areas. Specifically a Moreride 3000 suspension. As far as the others, the Winnebago Voyage line is new this year, so just going on you tube reviews. Each manufactuer has their own problems etc, but it mostly depends on dealer service. The 2 dealers with Keystone are Modern Trailer and Walnut Ridge RV. Jayco Colerain RV ( Indianapolis ) and Winnebago ( Brauns Funtime Campers) I think it will mostly come down to dealer service. As far as financing goes, I hate owing the middle man, so I will pay cash upfront.Re: ? on roof seam at edge with gutter type of caulk to useRoof seams to be some type of rubber membrane. I have a 2008 Starcraft 2700BH Travel trailer? on roof seam at edge with gutter type of caulk to useAlong the roof seem which makes contact with the gutter, their is a bead of caulk or something else. It is starting to show its age in spots. Which type of caulk do you use to touch up any problem areas. Can I use eternabond tape along the entire edge. If there is specific caulk to use, that would be beneficial too. thanks MikeMoving up from F 150 to F 350 6.7 dieselI previously owned a 2010 F150 with 5.4 and tow package. I own 2009 Starcraft 2700BH with had a hitch weight of 850 and when loaded weighed around 6500#. I used a propride weight distribution set up. The truck pulled the camper fine but you knew you had a camper hooked up. I traded that truck in at 125000 miles for a 2016 F350 6.7 diesel. Let me just say, that if you can afford the 10,000 upcharge for the diesel option do it. I have all the pwr you would ever want and then some. No more messing around with weight distribution etc. Can comfortly cruise at 65 all day long. I have put 2500 miles on while pulling the camper and have been avg 10mpg towing. Not sure this is good but the 150 avg like 8mpg. This truck is also My daily driver and while not towing I get 19 to 20 Hwy and 13 city. My set up is F350 6.7 diesel 3.55 gears and 18inch tires. Only draw back is a 26 gallon fuel tank but there are tons of options to add an external tank. If you are the fence and can afford a super duty by all means buy it. You wont regret it. MikeRe: Towing in the Snow - like riding a bicycle - NOT!Dutchman, I live in Batesville, IN just short drive from Pendelton. If you are coming back this weekend, major cold front came thru. Sat thru maybe next Thursday day time temps here low 30's with night time temps low 20's. Just giving you headsup KickerRe: suburban water heater leakI have a couple of ?'s. I removed my tank and it was rusted right at the drain out plug underneath. From the looks of the damage to the floor is sub structure, it has been leaking from the previous owner. Anyways, I repaired sub structure and floor to the best of my ability and cut out all rotten wood that i could see. I stop tearing anything past a 2 x 4 ft area as it looked like most of my damage was concetrated at the right rear corner. I have since gotten a new suburban tank, only because everything was fit for that tank. I am looking for the rubber sealant they used around the propane line connecting to the burn assembly. I also have some dicor tape sealant for the door frame but can not find the rubber back type of sealant. I then got some 4 x 8 plastic mobile home underside tape to fix the tarp where I cut it. Is there anything else that i might need. I do know that I will have some reservations on sub structure being that I am not completely sure i got it all. But at what point do you call it quits. thanks mikesuburban water heater leakThinking I had a small project turned into a huge project. Last wknd noticed water in bathroom. Didnt think to much until I followed the water trail. long story short, water was coming from water heater. Ok, Camper is 8 yrs old, so I order a new water heater. In taking the old one out is when my project turned into a big mess. Floor, sub floor, sub structure of right rear corner rotted out. From the looks of the damage, this has been leaking for a very long time. The tank was rusted on the underside where the drain out plug / anode rod is installed. I am the second owner, so I am not sure how maintence was performed on the tank. I can fix the problem with the floor etc, but how do you prevent this from happening again. where my water heater is located, in the 4 yrs that I have had the camper, I have never noticed or had water in basement. I have a 2008 Starcraft 2700BH
