I follow the thread and am planning a lot of travel in the next year. I may come out of retirement for about 6 months and do some contract work as an aircraft mechanic. I will travel and work 2 to 3 month jobs doing modifications while living in my RV kinda sorta workamping in my own way.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?Hello everyone, I bought a 2007 24' Jamboree on a Chevy chassis from El Monte in Feb of 2015. I am retired and have put 6K miles on it. In fact I just returned from a 10 day trip from Atlanta up I-75 to Detroit with many stops along the way. I rarely return the same route so after a stop in Cleveland to see an old USAF buddy, I came back on I-77 to Charlotte to I-85 to Atlanta. I was pleasantly surprised at the Ohio Turnpike rest areas. I spent a night at one, they are RV friendly with electric hook up, dump site and potable water. $20 fee. I have only had one issue with my RV. The transmission went bad. The warranty took care of it. I had to pay $100 deductible. This happened 6 months after purchase and I have had no other issues. El Monte has been great. I have no regrets about my purchase and would do it again. I did install a backup camera, battery isolation switch, flat screen TV and RV specific GPS. Next long trip will either be to The Smithsonian or Mt Rushmore. Savannah and Pensacola next short ones. GO RVing!Re: Pirate Land Campground Myrtle Beach SC, BOOM We made it!I took 2 kids there about 5 years ago. We had a great time between the beach and the facility. We didn't leave. The only problem we had was that I was in a pop up and it was so windy that I thought we were inside of a flag! I have since upgraded to a class C. Still loved Pirateland.Re: Staying at fairgoundsRecently spent 2 nights at fairgrounds in Raleigh N.C. nothing fancy but price was right, staff excellent and location convenient. I will use them again when in the area.Re: Memphis in May festival and BBQ cook off.I am hearing a lot of votes for Tom Sawyer and have heard from friends that I would probably like TO Fuller also. I thank you all for your input. I will not be dragging a toad.Memphis in May festival and BBQ cook off. This topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 28717252Memphis in May festival and BBQ cook off.Hello everyone, I will be going to the Memphis in May Festival for the first time. I have a 24 ft Jamboree Class C and am wondering about a good convenient campground to use. I will definitely be going to the BBQ cook off.Re: Chevrolet Based Class C *UPDATED AGAIN*I own a 2007 Jamboree 24d on a Chevy 3500 Chassis. I love it and am glad I took my time and waited until I found what I really wanted. I drive a 25 pax churchbus that is 24 ft long and on a E450 chassis. I hate driving it on the freeway. It wanders and don't let a big charter bus or speeding 18 wheeler come by. My Jamboree/Chevy is far superior, quieter, roomier (in the cab) and much more comfortable.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?I bought a 2006 Chev chassis 24 ft Jamboree from El Monte. I purchased it in Feb 2015. I have put 5000 miles on it so far and only had one problem that was not operator error. Every time I would shift to rev, the engine would shut off. El Monte has a 12k /12 month drive train warranty. I called them and they did an excellent job of getting my trans rebuilt. I had a bad torque convertor and pump. I LOVE my Chevy workhorse chassis and am glad I had the patience to wait for it. I drive a Ford E350 and 450 church bus one Sunday a month. After driving them for 6 or 7 hours, I am glad to get back in my GMC Savanna personal van and drive home. The difference in comfort and freeway handling is very noticeable. The E450 is a 25 pax bus. It drives ok untiI you get on the freeway and get blown around by 18 wheelers and charter buses. My Jamboree handles very well, has more legroom and very comfortable seats. I have nothing but praise for the Jamboree and would do it again in a heartbeat!Pleasant surprizeI just spent 2 days at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds RV camp in Raleigh N.C. $25 a night, internet, 24 hr security all amenities and level spot and very convenient. They will see my face in the place again!
