Thank you for the detail on this. I love Google maps when we are travelling but have resisted using it for fear of using bytes. I suppose we probably should turn the "photo view" off though.
I am trying an app called RVNotepad. It has a 30 day free trial. Provides a way to do trip planning and store the notes on your own computer, not on the web. Mapping is weak but I use Google maps and my Garmin for route planning.
It was a pretty easy transition if you didn't like the "tile" view in Windows 8. They put all the Control Panel under "Settings". Everything else seems to work about the same. It does need a fairly new computer though.
Within the next year or so you wont have much of a choice. New software will not be written for 32 bit. As it is, Windows 10 is not available on 32 bit. So eventually you will want to switch!
