All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: handicap conversionsA quick update: In the end I decided to purchase a mini-van with a ready made ramp already installed. After looking at the "big four" accessible mini-van companies I decided to go with AMS. http://www.amsvans.com/ They sell direct to the public, unlike their competitors vehicles which are only available through a dealer. I got a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country with a ramp installed for $23,500 less than the other guys best offer. Also, I am trading in an older ramp van and they offered me twice as much for my trade in as anyone else. If you ever need to buy a vehicle with a ramp I highly recommend you check out AMS.Re: Looking for Training in MarylandI am in the process of getting my class B non-commercial license in Maryland. I found it to be pretty simple. I went to my local MVA and took the "written" test on a computer. It was 20 questions and I needed to get 17 right to pass. I managed to pass this test without reviewing the study material and they issued me a class B non-commercial learners permit on the spot. The learners permit is good for four months. It allows me to practice driving vehicles which require a class B non-com license as long as there is a properly licensed person in the vehicle with me. Now all I have to do is go back and take the driving test and they will issue me my very own class B non-com license. I hope this helps.Re: tires date ????I am wondering if I am reading the date codes on my tires correctly. I have photos of my tires but apparently I am not tech savy enough to figure out how to link them to this post. What I see is as follows. Front tires say: DOT EMF2, then in the depressed oval, 2KK0205. I think this means my front tires were manufactured in the second week of 2005. Rear tires say: DOT EKF2, then in the depressed oval, 3YF328. I think this means my rear tires were made in the 32 week of 1998. My MH is a 1999 so these would probably be the original tires. Does it seem like I am interpreting this information correctly?adding bumper to motorcycle lift mountsI recently purchased a motorhome which came with an Overbilt motorcycle lift on the back. I would like to find a rear bumper that would slide into the two square receivers where the lift is mounted. I would only use the bumper when the lift was not attached to the MH. I am wondering if anyone here has any experience with this type of modification or knows where I might be able to find something like this. I realize that I could have one special built but I wanted to check here first before I go that route. Thanks.Re: handicap conversionsDeleted duplicate postRe: handicap conversions buta4 wrote: Go to Sportsmobile.com. Search for Mobile Disabled. They have an example there. I have spent some time on the sportmobile site and have exchanges a few emails with them. Today I went to the dealerships and looked at a Transit and a Sprinter. They look like nice vehicles that would meet my needs. The factory interior on the Transit was nicer would require much less after market up-fitting, so it won on that point. They are both too tall to fit in my garage so they tied on that point. The rear seats on both were typical "shuttle van" seats weren't really suitable for my purpose and I would have to replace them on both, so again they tied on that point. The Transit had a nice system for heating and air conditioning the back of the vehicle while the Sprinter requires you to buy a roof mount unit to do the same thing, so the Transit won big on that point. The exterior style points were about even with the Sprinter having a slight advantage. Also, the Sprinter won won in the "company reputation" category. The Transit also offers sliding doors on both sides while the Sprinter only offered a sliding door on the curb side, another big win for the Transit. I need to call the lift company tomorrow and see if there are any differences between the two when it comes to installing the lift. However, at this point I would have to say that the Transit has the inside track. If anyone is interested I will continue to post as I work my way through this adventure. :-)handicap conversionsIs there anyone on this forum who has knowledge regarding doing a handicap conversion to a class B van? Specifically I will need to permanently add either a ramp or a lift so it can be accessed with a power chair. This vehicle will be primarily for transportation rather then camping but I would like to add some camping features as space permits. Most of the power chair accessible vehicles I have seen are minivans and they do not have enough room for my needs. I would enjoy hearing from anyone who has attempted this type of modification or who has information that may be helpful. ThanksRe: Class A Owners Carrying MotorcycleOK, this must be a newbie question, but here goes. How come nobody is selling a fiberglass box with a solid bottom that would sit on the lift and completely cover a motorcycle?Re: Age restrictionsWow, this is news to me. I just bought my first RV. It is a 17 year old diesel pusher. I guess I better start checking around.Front seats need TLCFor my first motorhome I bought a 17 year old diesel pusher. It is in great shape but the driver and passenger seats need some TLC. They are white and the creases in the leather have turned dark. What is the best solution for making the seats look good again? Thanks in advance!
