What would the road conditions be like weather wise for pulling my 26 ft. Fiver over the Duffy lake road(highway99) from the junction of 97c through Lililoet, Pemberton to Whistler in the first week of May this year. Would appreciate your comments of this route at this time of year.
Thanks,

I drive up the Duffey Lake road every May long weekend and the road is clear of snow and is fine to drive even though there is still accumulated snow off the road and on the surrounding hills and mountains.

Make no mistake though, this is mountain country and the conditions can change quickly this time of year. If the road is closed, the barriers will be down just outside of Pemberton. Since you are driving in early May, check the weather and highway cams before departing.

If you have never driven the road, you are in for special treat. The scenery is nothing less then spectacular as it traverses through the coastal rain forest environment then down into the drier semi-arid region around Lillooet.

Also keep in mind that the Duffey Lake Road has the steepest paved highway grade in BC. The road out of Pemberton is deceiving as it meanders through the Pemberton Valley then starts to climb abruptly at Lillooet lake. From here to the summit, the road ascends 3500 feet in just over 8 miles.

The descent on the other side down into Lillooet is a little tamer, but nonetheless, good brakes are a must.
