Hi folks.
We will be visiting the Taylor Park area in a week or so in our 38' DP.
We will coming from Leadville.
We could save a lot of miles by going over the Cottonwood Pass.
Have you gone over the Pass lately? What are the conditions ?
Thanks much.
Dan

I will second that every time we have been over Cottonwood pass its been wash boarded. The only thing to do is really slow down.

Last year there was construction on the paved road between Almont and Taylor Park, it required a detour that was steep tight and generally messy.

Some rigs would not like these conditions.

Good luck.

We live I Buena Vista and travel over Cottonwood Pass a couple times a year. As you probably know, the road is paved on east side to the pass. The other side is an all weather gravel county road. There are some fairly tight curves near the top going down on the west side. But you are above tree line and good line of sight. There are a few blind corners after you get down into the trees.

The road can be really wash boarded in places. Haven't done it this summer. Also can be a real gooey mess if it rains. Just take it nice and easy. Main roads in Taylor Park are gravel county roads. Again, they can and usually are very wash boarded and dusty when dry.

Don't miss the homemade pie alamode at the restaurant/campground. Can't remember the name.
