Crossville TN to Lexington KY

Help us choose best route from Crossville TN to Lexington KY.
We prefer to stay off the interstate.
3 Options: US-127N from Crossville.
or - West on I-40 to Cookeville, then north on TN-111 to 127N? Although TN-111 looks like a better road it doesn't look like 127 is any better than 27 on Google Maps.
or - east on I-40 to Harriman then north on US27.
We don't mind going a few miles out of the way to get a better road. We have plenty of time.

Is 127 appropriate for a 40 footer pulling a toad? We are going to be making this trip in a couple of weeks and normally go 40 to 75.

Shortest route is 127, 3.5 hrs. Would be my choice. All routes are curves and hills and 2 lane road.

I have driven 127 and 27 and both are OK.

I would suggest taking 127 and stopping by the Sgt. Alvin C. York State Park in Jamestown, TN. and learn about this great war hero.
Do you have time to visit Big South Fork? This would be great for a few days.
