We are going from Morro Bay North to Petaluma. Have been hearing about detours in San Francisco trying to get to Golden Gate Bridge.
We are in a 36' motorhome towing a car.
Any recent travel experiences will be appreciated.
Will be traveling on Thur. or Fri.

We took the 280 north thru the city on 19th avenue last month. This is our normal route and there was a little construction before you get to GG Park but otherwise it was fine. Just stay in the center lane. The northbound direction is the free direction across the bridge.

I had to take this detour when I was there last month. (but not in my coach)
It goes through the city a little bit and crosses Golden Gate Park. Added maybe 20-30 min to travel time due to some traffic lights. I should mention we drove it on a Saturday to eliminate commuter traffic.
PS- If you want to stop for some pics, go to the other side of bridge (North side). The parking lot is big enough for RV and less crowded with people.

Hope this helps

When we went from Monterey to Bodega Bay earlier this year we used the 880 and 580 to go around Frisco. Oakland traffic was a little heavy on a Saturday early afternoon but it was an easy route except for paying the $20 toll to cross the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge!!
