We've reached Houston, Texas and have 7 weeks to see as much as we can before moving towards Albuquerque, NM. We like to stay about 5 days in an area to visit interesting sights and do hiking or biking. I'm trying to use the Tx State Park website, but sure seems time consuming after using Reserve America's site. Any hints?

We prefer natural parks, state, county, national and would love suggestions.

Scenic drives?

Thanks for the help.

Another must see I would put on the list for Galveston is Moody Gardens, they have a world class aquarium along with an impressive indoor tropical greenhouse and even a decent paddle wheel riverboat ride on Offats Bayou. It really is a hidden gem on Galveston and even has ample parking and a massive overflow lot so no problem bringing the RV.

As to camp grounds there are numerous nice state park camp grounds in east Texas

In Houston see NASA and just south of there Kemah Park and Galveston. Then head west to San Antonio for the Alamo and everything else we have to offer. If you like to gamble, just outside Eagle Pass is the Kickapoo casino.

Depending on how you are planning to get to NM we always plan to stay at the Wichita Mtn Wildlife Refuge at Medicine Park, OKLA which is just north of Lawton OKLA...

They have a great camp ground called DORIS CAMP around one of the Lakes there and plenty of trails and wildlife roaming free over the whole complex...

Having lived in Wichita Falls TX back in the 60s we would go to this camping site all the time which is around 50 miles North of Wichita Falls... A great get-away for us...
