Arizona did get significant rain during the monsoon season. However, monsoons do little to fill the lakes that supply water. The monsoon rains tend to soak into the ground and not run off in to the lakes. Really need the heavy winter snowpacks for that.

Ya it soaks into the ground, thatโ€™s why they have had problems with flooding in AZ and I15 got washed away between St George and Mesquite.

Last month a nudist camp in the SF Bay area made the news, when it was discovered that they were stealing water to fill their pool

Haven't heard of any shutdowns in Arizona. People aren't emptying their pools in the Phoenix area. ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, Arizona has had a very good monsoon this summer.

A number of CA public cgs have closed or shut off water. There is one campground in the Lake Shasta area thats well has run dry and they are trucking in water.

The West is as it always has been...no changes. We have water and we have pools.

I have no idea where *you* are in "the west" (it's a BIG area, and extremely varied!), but in most of California, the reservoirs are significantly depleted, as are most lakes and streams. Ground water table in many areas are far lower than in past years. Many communities are under water restrictions. The fire season, always bad in dry years, has been horrific this year; no surprise after essentially three drought years. If we don't get *significant* rain and snowfall this winter, we will be in even deeper trouble than currently. Yes, there is still a lot of misuse and waste of dwindling resources; some people just don't get it and won't until nothing comes out of the tap.

Gosh - what kind of rumors are you hearing? ๐Ÿ™‚ The West is as it always has been...no changes. We have water and we have pools. We also have the same prices - no discounts. C'mon out!

Largest lake in the Phoenix area is at 38% capacity with only 4 out of 10 boat ramps in the water.

I live here and nobody has run out of water. 80% of California's water goes to irrigating crops. Most of the remaining 20% goes to industrial uses and irrigation of lawns, golf courses, etc. Only a very small percentage is used by humans for their homes and RV's. And by homes I mean inside the home for drinking, cooking, showers, washing, etc. My yard takes much more water than I do.

We don't possess that kind of common, economical sense. Pay the same, get less. There is no such thing as a good deal in CA. Very little value in anything out here.

I have noticed while searching on recreation.gov that many federal campgrounds in CA are stating no water available, but they are not discounting the rates.
