Hwy 191 thru Utah for 40 ft 5th wheel

We are planning to travel highway 191 through Utah in mid to late April. Is this a safe route for a 40 ft 5th wheel? On my map it looks like there are some switchbacks just before Ashley National forest and around Flaming Gorge/Deer Run Campground.

Just don't take 191 down into Arizona. The stretch between Alpine and Morenci has been labeled the twistiest road in America.

๐Ÿ™‚ We did with our 40' and towed car. Luckily it was late Fall with very little traffic. By the time we realized we shouldn't be on that road it was too late and absolutely no place to turn around. The grades were 8-9%, narrow and 10mph hairpin turns. We crawled down and made it just fine. However, it was then that we purchased the 'Mountain Directory for Truckers & RVers' and researched our beloved mountain drives before doing them!

I'm heading for that stretch of road on my motorcycle in a month or so

If you haven't done it it's perfect for a cycle! 40' motorhome, not so. Enjoy the drive!! Also, the mine gives a great tour.

Flaming gorge has a really nice campground, Pine Forest, part of the Flaming Gorge Resort. Deer come though every n ight. Campground should be quiet that time of year. Watch the weather!

It's a popular drive for RVers - many, many do it because it's a destination area. You'll have an uphill but doable. April is not a busy time so you won't be holding up a string of travelers. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dinosaur Nat'l Monument and Steinaker State Park make good stays around Vernal.

Yes coming out of Vernal going North on 191 are a set of switchbacks and steep grade(just after going past Red Fleet State Park) and then short section after RT 44 junction......but length of 5vr is not an issue

Well worth the drive for the scenery.
