Hwy 395 Hwy 120 and 6.... are they good for a 42' 5th wheel

I will be traveling from Truckee California through Reno down I-580 onto 395 south till it reaches hwy 120 east to hwy 6 into Nevada, taking 95 the rest of the way to Las Vegas. Has anyone done this drive hauling a big rig? Is it curvy? Does it have many steep grades and abrupt edges? Is there plenty of stops for diesel that can accommodate a big rig?

Thank you, Maria

Thanks everyone for your info. I definitely check out the Motor Carriers Atlas. I thought the drive down 395 would be more scenic but I don't want to take any chances with the unknown ahead.

Out of Reno we usually go I-80 to ALT-50 at Fernley to 95 all the way to Vegas. About 450 miles.

We like to break it up with an overnight in Hawthorne at Whiskey Flats RV Park.

I agree.....I would just go east from Reno to Fallon and take 95 all the way down to Las Vegas, and I have done so in the past.

I did that route in the '80s in an old '65 Coronet. Road was fine and wide open. Did not need fuel.

I got a Motor Carrier's Atlas and I can see if a route is approved for the 18-wheelers. I will also Google Map a route and use the satellite view to zoom in on the road and see what it actually looks like from above. It also lets you go into street view so you can see what the road looks like before you drive it.
