I-75 closed in TN

I-75 closed both directions until 3/24

Please read to the bottom, which gives the exact location of the detour. The detour roads are narrow rural roads not suited to big rigs. Alternative routes suggested.

Not sure but would estimate about 1-2 miles. Estimate based on exit at 141 and slide occurred at 142.

Best site to monitor traffic conditions is TN Smarwtway Traffic.

How are the backups with only one northbound lane open? With the snowbirds leaving the state of Florida April 1 things might get crazy!!

Remember, south bound is open.

Latest tweet on northbound:
Video: Paving operations underway on I-75 North in Campbell County. One lane expected to re-open by Thursday night.

The bypass by car isn't terribly bad. If traveling north though, would recommend the 25E route from I81 to I75 near the state line for the MH.

I am reading about this shutdown on I75 and wondering--Is the detour that bad and how long would it take? Also, if I were in a car instead of an RV of any type would it be a bad detour? Thanks

If you are going north and only towing a boat you will have no problem using 25w, get off at the Lafollette exit 34 and go north on 25 to Jellico and pick up I 75. About 30 miles, we have done it dozens of times with TT or 21' boat. Some tight turns one railroad underpass that's tight and blind but if you are careful should not be a problem.

So after reading the post, is going north on I75 to 25w really a bad way to go, is the 25 west the route that is backed up with lots of accidents?

can someone give me a good route for North bound using I-75,to bypass the rockslide, as of today, the 18th still closed. Is the detour route by the state a good one or is there a better way if you're just towing a small boat?? leaving this Sunday.

I'll be heading home to Cincinnati from Perry, GA on the 21st, so will be having to use the NB detour route. I'm 37' and towing. Is the NB detour using US 25W suitable for a MH if the truckers are avoiding it?

Take 162 North on the west side of Knoxville (exit #376)
Then 62 through up thru Oak Ridge and on to Oliver Springs
NOTE: 62 turns right in Oliver Springs at 2nd light.
Then 27 North into KY.
Then 92 back over to 75 or stay on 27 into Lexington KY. Your choice.
All good roads! No problems!

We drove 25 EAST 2 Saturday's ago on our way to South Carolina (South bound). And then on the return this last Saturday, on our way back to Indiana (North bound). The EAST route is 4 lane or more all the way. I highly recommend this route to avoid the tighter WEST route. The entry-exit spots are Corbin, KY and I-81. I-81 is only about 3 or 4 miles from I-40, then take I-40 and get back on track.

We stayed overnight (twice) on the 25 EAST route. Locals said the car detour is a horrible mess, to absolutely do not go that way.

Yes if you follow the truck detour. Do NOT take the car detour, there is an overpass that is narrow and on a curve. It is 14' high but you would have to make sure no one is coming from the other direction before you enter.
