I've never driven this highway before and was wondering if there are any long steep grades, bad roads, etc on Rt 95. It looks like it is desolate out there without many towns or stops so will leave with full tank of fuel, etc.

Be aware of vehicles passing coming at you. I drive that road a few times a year and have had to brake hard and even go onto the shoulder because of trucks passing others. Just be aware.

Thanks for the quick replies to my query. Now if the wind would die down we could start on this part of the journey.

Same as Us Out West said. To save $'s, Fuel up in LV. Highest elevation is in Tonopah, 6047 feet. Long grade into Goldfield and prior to Tonopah but have never been a problem, good highway if windy watch for crosswinds. Depending on where you are going there is good highway over to 395 Yerington of alt 95. If you want to join 395 at Bishop take highway 6 west off of 95 N. Nice rest area 13 mi north of Tonopah with place for RVs to overnight. Dick

Last month we hooked up with 95 after leaving Pahrump on our way to Reno.

Road is good with a couple of grades but not a concern.

We did take ALT 50 at Fallon to get to I-80 then to Reno.

To get to Carson you'll have to take ALT 95 to 50.

Safe travels.
