Mackinaw City stop

Our family will be traveling to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan next month. Because we have four kids we will be breaking up the trip on our there and back. On the way up we will be stopping over for a couple days in Traverse City. On the way back we would like to stop for a couple hours at least and let the kids run around, so they might sleep the rest of the way. Are there any places I could park the truck and trailer and walk to downtown, beaches, etc?

Thank you all for responses.
I can't remember the name of the place, but we get our pasties in Munising.
We will be visiting the falls and pictured rocks while up there.
I wish we had time to spend a day in Mackinaw, however we will be traveling on a Sunday back home so I can work on Monday. Next year we will be spending a week in Mackinaw.

If you are in that area and have the time:
Munising Falls are neat and an nice break.
Upper and Lower Tahquamenon Falls.
Whitefish Point Museum
Spend a day at the Sault Saint Marie Locks and museums. (skip the tower unless the combined ticket is worth it.) Read the history along Water Street. There are two very nice campgrounds on the river.
Take at least a day on Mackinac Island. (It is a tourist trap, but with great history.)
And stop in to the see the recreated (from supposition) saw mill at Mill Creek.

Will you be sampling the Pasties in Mackinaw City? The one we use is on Huron street east of the main drag.

When we stop in Mackinaw City we usually park behind Mackinaw Outfitter. They have some designed big rig parking. We stop there on our return trips from the UP pretty much every trip. Nice place for a break. You can walk all around the entire shopping district within easy distance.
We are making our annual three week trip to the UP in August. Happy travels!

East side of the bridge there are many places to park that are near the water. There is a church with a nice parking lot about 4 blocks East of the bridge. Also parking a few blocks West of the bridge. Not a problem. Enjoy!!!
