My son is broken down in Wendover, NV/UT

He came home to visit and is now broken down in Wendover, trying to get to Fort Collins CO. No Uber available or car rentals. They need a new alternator, and there are none available in Wendover. He needs to get to Salt Lake City to buy one, he can probably get a ride back on Le Bus. He's supposed to be back to work on Monday in Ft. Collins, CO.

Any ideas on how to get there would be appreciated.

Another vote for running the generator. It should have no problem keeping up.

You will indeed need a way to combine the batteries safely if the boost solenoid does not function.

Many folks have used this trick just fine.

There are three there..one of them has really bad yelp reviews. Could you please pm me with that business name?

Call the parts store, find the alternator and then tell them you are willing to pay to have it delivered to Wendover. Someone at the parts store will have a friend or family member willing to drive it out for the right price. Money talks and everything else walks. You will, however, have to convince them that you aren't a serial killer or full of Bullpoo and will actually come across with the delivery cash.

Hi,

If he has a generator then he could jump the "house" batteries to the "chassis" batteries and use that to get back on the road to where the parts are.

Some years back, an auto parts store abut 80 miles from where we broke down put the parts I needed on a bus with scheduled service to the little town we were in. Seven hours later we were back on the road.

For you Creedence fans, this reminds me of "Stuck in Lodi Again" There's nothing there.

Since they wrote that song, there's a lot more in Lodi.

I wish he was in Lodi.
