Anyone take the Boulevard Las Torres around the Obregon mess. If so what shape is it in. On google earth some stretches look bad but mostly good. Of course that was in 2015 .
I'm curious as to how the people responsible for the roads through the city get away with letting them get that bad.
Also I watched as the highway maintenance guys dropped a shovel full of asphalt into a hole and move on. No bonding or packing firm, just leaving traffic to tamp it down. Of course in about an hour or less the hole is back.
It is good to see however that they are making headway on new road construction.

Some Rv parks are very full for this time of year. La Parota on Lo de Marcos & Laguna del Tule in Melque to name 2. Both 3/4 full

Sonora x2. The other unintended consequence of bad roads is fewer and fewer rvers coming down and campgrounds slowly closing. A vicious circle. For me, next year I'm flying down and renting an apt on the beach for cheaper than I can drag a trailer down. Why bother and take a chance of wrecking my trucks or trailers suspension. But that's just me. Others may be O.K. with the roads and that's fine .Each to their own. Now,..... Canadian and American roads is another topic. This forum is about Mexico and South America. My topic is about Mex 15 in particular. Anyways...............next year 4 hours flying time as opposed to 3 days of being jostled around sounds good to me.

The point I would make is that fixing a pothole improperly costs more in the long run then it does to do it right in the first place. A couple of 5 gallon buckets of Tack, A Broom, and a Plate compactor are going to cost less then continually having to redo the potholes, not to mention the damage done to vehicles which governments handily grant themselves immunity from financial responsibility! A plate compactor can be reused over and over again and costs around $800. Obregon is not that poor of a city!

Pointing to other poorly managed road repairs is not an argument to waste money elsewhere on EITHER side of the border. Defending waste and/or incompetence in any government boggles my mind.

Lastly if that 17 Trillion had been spent on our roads we would have the best roads on the planet. (But that's another discussion). I have never been a supporter of deficit spending......BAD things eventually happen and our day of reckoning is coming.

You should show the Mexican people how to "bond and pack" to do it your way!pinchon

Russ, me being in the road building industry for over 25 years - I just have to shake my head sometimes at what I see that passes for road work and road maintenance south of the border. Go have another shrimp taco! :B

I guess if we had a 17 trillion dollar debt, we could have better roads too ๐Ÿ™‚

I do not know about some other town but some city streets in San Diego are really bad, if they ripped them up and left them with just dirt it would be better, I have also seen extremely shoddy work on some of the highways in the Southern states so do not think that because it is Mexico they are bad, they are also bad and shoddy in the USA, drove some of those shoddy repairs in the USA this year.

And then driven some very good and nice roads in Mexico.

Yeah, I think that's the route I saw on google earth . Just wondering if any one has taken it. Maybe I'll try it on the way home and see how it goes. Thanks.

We keep thinking that one of the first overpasses should lead to the overpass at the far side of town, but haven't been able to find that out.

Thanks Tallyho, I think that's the same detour I took. Just wondering if someone knows of a detour around the detour.

Don't know the road names, but going south 2 weeks ago, we turned left just past WalMart, like usual. Part way down they are replacing the road, so made us turn left then right and share the northbound road. The block before rejoining the main road, there was a right and a left to put us back on the southbound road.

It was no better or worse than it usually is, probably a touch on the better than worse side.
