We'll be driving from Bend to the The Dalles in a few weeks and I'm thinking of taking the 97 To the 197 towing a 39' fiver, how's the drive? Any concerns or recommendations?

Biggs Junction has three truck friendly fuel stations, and a free crossing of the Columbia.
Russ & Paula the Beagle Belle.

Full of RV's.
No issues for you.
If you need a fuel stop, Madras is the place. The Dalles are harder to get into and out, except North of the Columbia.

197 also has a river crossing at Maupin with a downgrade.

Good two lane highway.
Steep down grade near the Columbia River gorge. Watch your speed, gear down!

We made that drive in early to mid June this year. No problems at all.
