Road to Yakima

Has anyone traveled highway 12 from I5 to Yakima, WA? I'm heading to Portland, OR from Idaho Falls, ID in a few weeks and wanted something a little different on the return trip. I was using the GoodSam Trip Planner and noted there were some highways in southern WA with low clearance warnings? Specifically, highway 14 from Portland to Richland, WA. Highway 12 looks interesting between Yakima and I5. Thanks in advance!

Highway 12 is good. It is better on westside then east. Short stretch has limited shoulders. Narrow portion is between Rimrock lake and WA 410 junction.
Highway 14 is good. There are some tunnels but the height restriction is nothing to worry about. The tunnels are arched so heigth restriction is at fog line. Not aware or remember anything to worry about. 14 is a much slower pace. Good views along Columbia.

Thanks for the good info! .... and thank you for your service!

12 is a nice road. Take your time to enjoy the scenery. Nice pullouts by streams. Enjoy!

Yes, 12 (White Pass) is doable. However it is steep and crooked, I cuss every time I follow an RV over that pass in car or tow vehicle.
