Robbed in Santa Ana, Son

Friends of ours were robbed at the Santa Ana RV park. Apparently this has happened before. 2 teenagers who live nearby are the culprits. When the Bus stops nearby and passengers go in for Carne Asada often the driver leaves the door to the bus wide open. The kids run in and grab a purse, laptop or back pack. The local police chief knows who is responsible but claims he cannot do anything unless he sees the robbery or if the kids have stolen goods in their possession. Our friends were in the RV park in a 5th wheel. He went for a walk and his wife was in the bathroom. One of the kids reached in and grabbed her purse. They lost all their CC's $$ and ID's. The wife commented that Edgar is getting very old and feeble. We have never stayed there but I know that many in this forum stop at the RV park. I would recommend the new Pemex truck/travel stop at the south end of town. The cleanest bathrooms in Mexico with an attendant that keeps it spotless. The C store is stocked with lost of goodies. Even Krispy Kremes! Both US and Mexican products. They have a Subway and a food court. Open 24 hours and SAFE!

A lot of people drop their guard when they travel to a different country, they are on vacation and relax the vigilance mode and are easy prey for the opportunist thief, some even make the tourist tell them where they have the wallet, it is simple put a official looking notice " beware of pic-pockets "

I saw this at the Eiffel tower in Paris, everyone coming on to the top most observation tower reading the notice and was reaching for the pocket where they carried the wallet and two guys watching the tourists, I walked over to the two and took out my wallet and asked them if that was what they were looking for, they dashed for the exit, no one paid attention to them tourists were looking at the view while these two were looking at the marks, I carry my wallet left front pocket, never rear pocket easiest place to lift it.

Or the women that place the hand bag on the shopping cart where the kids sit, and the best open so that anyone passing can lift the purse or the bag and vanish.

Try not to be an easy prey for the thief's, and when sitting at a restaurant women do not place or hang your bag on the back of the chair, you will not notice when the bag is lifted, "Police 101"

TNS, White Star and Tres Estrellas de Oro drivers have told me in the past...a verbatim announcement to the passengers...

"I must lock the door when we leave -- no one stays aboard"

"Take all your valuables with you -- do not leave them on your seat"

This has changed?

WHY is BUS COMPANY allowing DRIVER to be part of the problem ie: Leaving door open??

"Attention....next stop will be at such & such for 15 minutes. Door will be closed until re-boarding"

Otherwise.........who leaves their valuables on a dang tour bus seat and leaves the bus!?!?!?!?!

1. Drivers do this often. I guess, - getting free ventilation so that they don't have to run the engine. Though driver usually stays close to the door, in this case. If he doesn't, he is an i.diot, next time somebody will steal some his tools or belongings. Report him to the company if you "habla".

2. Many people leave it. Big bag goes in the closed hold at the bottom, laptop and/or small bag with water bottle, warm jacket for possible cold night etc - in overhead bin.

Best thing to do is spread the news far and wide, along with a warning about the "known" perpetrators.

As in many places, once the locals get wind that these delinquents are hurting their business, it will be handled "internally"

Good for you for warning others to stay away. Make sure the RV Park gets wind of the posts 😉

Tallyho: I would paralleled park the trailer with SUV against the curb on the edge of the lot and then do the same with the MH but beside the SUV.

Easily accessible from either direction. It is part of one of those mega corps that operate many locations. I have to wonder how they get those USA products. Distribution in Mexico can be a nightmare.

Never figured this one out either. No real flavor, just lard and more fat.
Before they came here I would have said there's no such thing as a bad donut.

Sounds great. Didn't notice it on our way south. On our way north, we'll be in separate vehicles, so really need a secure place to park-he'll have the moho, I'll have the SUV with an empty trailer. Thanks!

Mo can it be accessed heading north? We usually stay at Anna's north bound but would prefer not to disconnect our toads.

As you leave SA headed South there is a pedestrian bridge. The Pemex is in the median not far past this bridge. You cannot see it until you get there due to a curve in the highway. So it is built in between the 2 lane highways. It is a true Travel center. One side of the building has truck pumps and the other has a bunch of gas pumps. Lots of attendands and they will holler and whistle to get your business. The lot is paved and super clean. Well lit When you enter the C store/food court it is like being in a big TA 3 or 4 hot food areas with a Subway, Mexican and Chinese. I have never been in a Pemex with the variety of snack foods. Even had Planter's USA honey peanuts! Lost of room on the lot to spend the night. As I said before you will never find bathrooms this clean. We always fuel up. Some of the Pemex's on the highway from Nogales to HMO are famous for short liters. Not here. I had written about this stop last season!

Leave valuables in an open vehicle Anywhere and there will be someone who is willing to take it and put it some place else.

I had a friend that got robbed somewhere once too. I wasn't there but I believe them, I don't think they were in Mexico though.
