Roll Call Alaska 2018

Okay...I know 2017 hasn't even taken off, but those of you that remember me from Roll Call 2013 know that I plan well ahead of time, lol.
4 years is way too long to go without being in Alaska so we are heading up again. This time my sister (Barbara), her husband (Pat) and their baby poodle (Koko) are going with us with their Bounder. We are planning to leave from Bullhead City, AZ around the end of May.
Would love to get a roll call started if anyone else out there is as much of an early planner as I am.
For those of you heading up this year, have a safe and wonderful trip and maybe you will enjoy it so much that you will join us in 2018. :W

Thanks for the heads up. Our plans are for the Richardson Hwy this time. As far as the Sterling Hwy goes, oh well, such are the problems of travel. Go with the flow & don't sweat the small stuff.

Heads up to all the RV'ers headed to Alaska this year, there is going to be road construvtion going on between Tok and Glennallan (it needs it badly) and between Cooper Landing and Sterling on the Kenai Penisula. One lane with pilot cars. Sterling Hwy will probably be the worst with all the summer traffic and fisherman coming down from Anchorage, especially during the red salmon run and dip netting. Drive careful and be safe...

Maybe...we leave from Bullhead City, and head to Vegas for 3 nights. We have a class C Coachmen Concord and my sister and brother-in-law will be following close with a Fleetwood Bounder. They both retired recently and have not been many places so I love showing them around. If you are in Vegas, we always stay at the Oasis on south strip.

Sounds like a plan. We leave May 14th from AZ to Vegas then North. We will have our signs (if I get around to making them).We won't be home til middle of Sept. Hope to see you on the road. Travel safe !!

Well folks in about 2 months we (WIfe, Me, Mia the wonder dog, and another couple) point the front end of our campers to the north and start this caravan on this GRAND Adventure. The ever changing route we take now has us heading north from NE Florida to the eastern shores of Lake Huron to visit with friends for a few days in Southampton, Ontario. We just bought our new class C in June and it does help to do the short trips to learn the new coach and iron out any bugs.

We are really going to have a great group going this year. Don't forget to make your signs so we can spot each other. Basically last time I just took some poster board from the dollar store and placed a few pictures and the words "Roll Call 2018". You can also post your name and CC name. Some (last time) placed it in their tow car window and some placed it in their MH window. We met some wonderful people. Usually we would meet up in the campgrounds and the sign helped us to spot each of us.

Just curious, Janet. Why did you decide to switch to a Class C after that beautiful Class A diesel pusher that we visited in Valdez in 2013? Is it so you can more comfortably travel gravel roads, like the Denali, TOTW, and Dempster "highways," in Alaska and Canada?

We love this Coachmen Concord. It has everything we need and is so much easier to drive, especially since we are older now.
It has 3 TV's (living room, Bedroom and one outside) We chose the dual recliners instead of the sofa. Has a fireplace, large curved dinette. Less storage but we don't live in it.
Our Monaco Dip was getting old and having several problems and decided it was time to let her go

Just curious, Janet. Why did you decide to switch to a Class C after that beautiful Class A diesel pusher that we visited in Valdez in 2013? Is it so you can more comfortably travel gravel roads, like the Denali, TOTW, and Dempster "highways," in Alaska and Canada?

Ah ha! More info. Yes, that would be a problem. We are usually only here & there for a few days but we can do a week on our own tanks without breaking a sweat. Have to have those private CGs for a day or so for laundry, dump & refill.
