One can take US 24 from Colorado Springs to I-70 at Limon or from Colorado Springs to I-70 at Minturn. Two totally different drives depending on where you are asking about.

We just used it in July coming home from Cheyenne mtn state park in CO Springs. Decent road, easy driving. Nice "open range" scenary. Loved the view in the rear view mirror....for nearly 50-60 miles we could still see Pikes peak in the mirror.

I pull it all the time. Roads are good and only a few small hills and they have passing lanes. Slow down to the speed limit thru Simla.

We have driven this route many times. Once pulling a TT southbound and twice with a huge Uhaul towing a car hauler and lots of times in a car. Generally there are passing lanes where you need them to let the other drivers get around you. The road has been improved over the past decade and is fine for your 5er. Stay straight when you get to Limon and you will get to I-70 without going through town. Just beyond the entrance to the interstate there is a truckstop with RV fuel lanes and an IHOP restaurant. You can easily get back to the on-ramp for I-70. Happy trails!
