5-6 week stay in Florida

Can anybody share information on Holiday Cove RV Resort in Cortez, Fl. or Frog Creek in Palmetto, Fl. We are planning on a stay from November 1st through December 10th. We have a 36' Cedar Creek fifth wheel and a 100Lb dog. We are also open to recommendations for other campground/resort locations in central or southern Florida. We would enjoy walking trails, heated pool and a Campground with full hook-up and solid internet service.

Holiday Cove is in a more populated area with beaches ( Ana Maria Island) close by as well as restaurants. ) Frog Creek is much more rural and a several mile drive to restaurants or stores. Both are well maintained

I sprinkle Sevin Dust around the connections, tires and jacks. Then any hill I see get a dose. If they track through it they carry it back into the hill. I've been doing this twice a year at Talladega Race for about 8 yrs. We have the only non infested area around. It even kills fire ants.

Ditto on only problem is ants. I buy the baits in the grocery store and put 4 throughout the RV. Stopped the ant problem. One way to prevent bug infestation in FL is to seal all food stuff in containers or plastic storage bags, and don't let crumbs stay on counters, cabinets or floors. Ants LOVE crumbs! Found out the hard way.

Spent several years at Holiday Cove, stopped going for the winter because the rates went sky high...Jan - April is $1824 a month.
November and December are considerably cheaper.
The park is rarely full during those months. Some of the people that own their lots are super...some are not.
You won't find much in the way of activities until after the new year, but there is so much to do in the surrounding area and on the island which takes about 2 and a half minutes to get to. Great restaurants in Cortez and the island.
You might want to take a look at Buttonwood Inlet Rv Resort in Cortez too, it's newly expanded out back with big sites and the friendliest people you will ever meet. They're a block west of HC.
Either place you would probably enjoy...good luck!

The only pest control I've had to deal with as a full timer has been ant control. Whether I stay for 2 weeks at a C.O.E., State Park, or for a month or longer at a private park, ants are bad in the S.E.. Terro is my weapon of choice. After 4 days to a week and I'm ant free... until next time.

Stayed at Frog Creek in February 2011 for about a week, nice people and park.

I think this is the type of place I would want to spend more time.

Just curious after returning from FL yesterday - if you stay for long term in Florida, do you have to do anything special for insect and pest control? The rental unit we stayed in near Orlando stated that they sprayed for insect and pest control on a monthly basis, which is probably fairly standard procedure. So I was curious if you have to do anything if camping in an Rv.
