A week in Top Sail

Just got back, and we had a wonderful time.

While a man made the statement that he has been going for the last 5 years and he can see a decline in the park (mainly the concrete pads) we found it to be very nice and centrally located for our trip.

We did notice a few sites that did have broken pads, including ours (site #127) this in no way would deter us from going back.

While several of the sites are IMO kinda close together, we waited 10 months for our site which gave us no immediate next door neighbor to the right.

We drove thru St Andrews and weren't very impressed...but again, that's only our opinion.

Make sure to take bikes if you have them. We left ours at home and regretted it every day.

We stayed a week in site 159 during July 4th week. Had great shade and campground was great. Kids enjoyed bike riding and beach.

We go to Topsail regularly, and the past couple time have stayed in site #134 (right down the road from #127). All of the sites in this area look great to me, and I'd take any of them. It's a gem of a campground ... I can hardly wait to go back!

We are heading to Topsail in September. This is our first time and we have site 127 as well!

How bad was the pad? Looked like it was a fairly easy site to get in based upon the photo.

Site #127 at Topsail is not broken up too bad, the really bad ones are over in the front section. Some of those I would consider not usable. They were repairing one or two a year a couple years ago but this past year they haven't repaired any.
Be sure to fill your fresh water tank when you get there. The past couple of times we have been there they have had water line breaks and have had the water off for several hours while repairing. Due to the roots of the pine trees causing the concrete pads to break, they also are causing the water lines to break too. The last four times we have been to Topsail, three times there was a water line break. Fill your tank just in case.
We will be on site #132 the last week of Sept.

It's a non-issue. It's a awesome site because you don't have a next door neighbor on the door side.

There is no wifi available at the site, but there is a hotspot near the pool/gazebo. The shuttle runs every 30 min until 5 pm, then it's every hour till 7 pm.

There is no fire ring, so if you want a fire, then you can bring your own freestanding fire pit.

The sewer outlet is not at the back of the site, but rather about 1/2 way in, so make sure you have a long sewer hose if you want to back it all the way in.

There is a Walmart less than a mile away

We've only been back a couple of days now, and I'm ready to go back.

We love it. Been going for 6 years and yes there are some spots that need attention. The 100's loop is in good shape, but the others need some attention. Next year we are going to try Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. It will be our first time there. We have friends who go there every year, so we're going down with them. Just time for a little change up.

We love Topsail as well, the pool is a bit small and the tram is slow at times but a bike ride to the beach is nice. You will love it there, lots of things to see on the trails.

I just booked twelve days in June 2016 on site #79. It is a tough place to get a reservation at. We have been to Grayton Beach State Park before and liked it there. Anxious to check out Topsail. The reviews are all quite good from what I have read.
