Back to Destin, Florida

Couldn't talk my wife out of it. She insisted on going back to Destin for spring break 2017. I wanted to head further south. But unfortunately, I was able to squeeze 4 nights in at Grayton Beach SP (amongst 2 different sites) and 3 nights at Topsail Hill Preserve SP. Oh well will give some new content to the YouTube channel. lol

Looked at Camp Gulf, but at their rate of anything from $85-192/nite, we are staying 7 nights for less than $280. Can't beat the savings. Gas there and back will cost me $500 let alone....lol

Well we just added a couple more nights to our trip to Destin. We will be checking out Manatee Springs State Park (Florida) for a couple nights on our way to the Destin area...

Come on Spring, hurry up and get here!

It's not bad during Spring Break...you don't get the college kids too much in that area. They normally stay more over near panama city beach, where it can get more rowdy. Spring Break in the Santa Rosa area is more families than anything. And with schools having different spring break weeks, you don't get a bunch at once. I know when we've been down there before and our daughter was out for spring break, that their schools were in session.

We did 16 states an 6000 miles last winter, from New England down the east coast to central Florida, then out the panhandle and around the gulf coast to Galveston. Our 2 favorite places were HoHum in Carabelle FL and 30A. We had never considered moving out of Cape Cod, but if we did, we'd go to the Santa Rosa Beach area.

Of course, we didn't see it during spring break.

We had a beachfront site at Camp Gulf back in June, and absolutely loved it. Lots of activities for the kids, and being that close to the water was better than any condo or hotel. Yeah, it was a small fortune to stay there. We're already booked for the same site for June 2017. We'll probably do it one more year, then go back to staying in our future permanent residence (hopefully) of Seagrove Beach. Camp Gulf and the Destin area is great and all, but it's no 30A!

We did Topsail last spring. Make sure you stop at the Donut Hole for b'fast.

Did you try to get into Henderson Beach SP?

Yeah Henderson didn't have anything and to be honest, I don't want to be down in the middle of it all. We don't make it out for breakfast. Tend to sleep in too late and by the time we all get up, showered and ready to go, it would be nearly lunch time...lol

I get up at 4:30 in the morning every day for work. When I have a day off, I don't get to sleep in much past 7am. Sometimes it's nice not to have to get up until my body wants me to...

We are more campers than RVers and Grayton Beach is our absolute favorite SP in that part of Florida. In our opinion you can't go wrong with that choice and while you're in that area check out Eden SP. Not very far from there and only a mile off 98. Just a day use park with a very nice old Victorian mansion and great grounds to walk through for a pleasant day.

Yeah Grayton is my favorite, based on location. I love Seaside. If they could move Topsail to Grayton's location, then it would be better. Our daughter didn't want to do Grayton because it doesn't have the pool or the wifi. Plus the fact that when we mentioned that we could ride bikes into Seaside, she really hated us...lol

Thankfully Topsail was a lot harder to get into...We will have to check out Eden SP. Anything to give us some good video content.

Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!
