Has anyone stayed here? RVPR has no listing for them. I thought I remembered reading some last year, but I guess not!

Anyone have anyone input on the place?

OK. I just made resv. for July 4th and 5th. at Beechnut. I was looking at Mayberry campground and it did not have a pool which may (most likely) be an issue in July! I`m looking forward to Mt Airy since I read about it in Trailer Life. looks like a good stop over! and it wasn`t pricey either as far as campgrounds go with FHU.

Let us know how it goes dodge guy. We've been to the fancy gap KOA a couple times that someone mentioned. It's about 10-20 minute drive into my airy. Not a bad place there also. Does have a small pool. We are at Tanglewood in Clemmons (outside Winston-Salem). Not a bad place if you can get one of the leveler sites. Full hook up with cable. Paved pads (which we prefer). There is a pool inside the park (it's a large county park with horse stables, golf courses, pool and more). You do have to pay to use the pool. But the sites are $31/day. There is wifi also and depending on where you are in the campground, it can be decent or shoddy.

Looks like I may be one of the first to review Beechnut at RVPR.

We absolutely love Fancy Gap KOA, just about 20-30 minutes north of there. There is a really nice, but extremely small CG at Pilot Mountain called Greystone RV park.

Beechnut and many other CG's in the area are closed in the Winter. So we stayed at Mayberry during the worst winter in 40 yrs back in 2010. Monthly rent went down in the Winter and it was easier for DH to drive up to VA rather than down the Mountain on I-77 to his jobsite.

Looks pretty pricey for parking on the grass.

Just secured reservations for June @$32.12 a night, GS rate! Paid for six and got seventh free! Not very "pricey" in comparison to other campgrounds. I have also reserved another @ $50.00 a day in North Carolina. Due to the weather in eastern states, I do not expect to have paved pads. Seems they may heave in the freeze?

Camping on grass is a plus, not a minus. I'll take camping on grass, sand, gravel, or dirt, anytime over parking on concrete.

As for the pool. Depends on the time of year. For the next few weeks. You don't need one

If it makes a difference to anyone, Mayberry is a Passport Amercia park.

Their web site is www.beechnutcampground.com. I have never stayed there. Mayberry Campground seems to be the place of choice to stay, per several postings in the forum. Need to reserve early, as it is very popular.
