We are possibly planning a November trip to the Gulf Coast in November. Are there any State Parks, or camping along the Gulf Coast that you would recommend. We do not have any set destination in mind. Thanks for your help.

We booked Geronimo RV park in Destin for November. I guess I should call to make sure they're still operational.....

Thank you all so much. Since writing the post we will not be able to make the trip this year. We are going to keep all this information!

Try booking at Galveston Island State Park. Yes that would be Texas. I believe you can choose between bay side or beach side.
There are others. Goose Island SP near Fulton/Rockport should be good.
Sea Rim State Park south of Port Arthur has a few camp spots.
Louisiana would be a "no-go" from what I've seen around Lake Charles. Devastated.
Maybe something close to New Orleans. Bayou Segnette SP is just across the river from New Orleans. Good Food!! Watch "New Orleans Kitchen Queens" on PBS for some ideas on places to eat.

Gulf State Park in Alabamais closed from hurricane damage, and they have not said when it would reopen. It has 500 sites, that were booked, so all of those people have probably booked any cancelations at Florida State Parks. All of the state parks on the gulf beaches stay booked almost year round.

Iโ€™d look figure out the area you want to go, and look at some of the private campgrounds. They are more expensive and typically smaller sites, but much easier to get into.

Awfully late to book a spot on the Gulf Coast...if they are open. Very ruff year.

We were at Gulf State Park, AL a couple of years ago and as we were checking in, there was an equally long line checking out. I asked the clerk why there was such a back up in checking out. Response was. "They're making reservations for next year. Same time, same site, etc."

In Florida you have to get up in the panhandle to find any State Parks (with camping) on the beach. And those are probably booked into next summer. The parks in the western panhandle have damage right now from that last hurricane to go thru the area. I suspect MS, AL, and LA are all cleaning up and repairing damage from several recent storms. Southern TX, the the RGV is your best bet. That area is probably booked up to some extent tho.

Unfortunately your idea has already occurred to thousands of other campers long ago.

The Gulf Coast has over 1600 miles of shoreline over 5 states . If you'd narrow down a bit, it would help the responders.
