I had mentioned and referenced campgrounds in the huge 50,000 acre Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in several posts and be advised that they have changed the names of two of them.

"Riverbend CG", the very popular lower CG unit a few hundred yards from the Lower falls is now named "Portage CG". No changes to the CG itself.

"Overlook CG" on top of the big hill behind (west of) the check in building at the lower falls is now named "Hemlock CG". No changes to the CG itself.

Rivermouth CG is still named Rivermouth CG unit.

We'd just camped at both the newly named CG's like we do every year at Fall colored leaf peeping time. Colors were just fantastic all over the area!

Temperature will drop below freezing north of about Grand Rapids inland tonight and tomorrow will be very bright and sunny so the leaves are going to their peak color real fast. Need that one freeze followed by bright sun to enhance the color and here it comes! The icing on the cake!

I was up there one year for the colors and thought I was in a cartoon. It was that colorful and beautiful.

Thanks for the heads up travelnutz. We are currently in Petoskey enjoying the color ourselves. Just beautiful!!
Still lots of color to see...come on up to Michigan everybody--BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I'm headed back there after a 5 week trip. Glad to see the color is still there. Not looking forward to the lack of leaves, though. Why is it that so many RVs are headed in the opposite direction?:D

Always do up here as it's beautiful plus. We've been coming up here for over 50 years now in total as we live on the West Michigan Lakeshore only approx. 330 miles south and there's so much to see, do, and enjoy all the way up and back down. Always find something new along the way even after over 50 years.
