Campground in Ohio north of Cincinnati off of 75

Looking for a campground to spend one night while traveling from Michigan to the Smokies this week.

Hopefully someone can offer advice on a site that is open this time of year and is close to I75. We don't care about amenities since we will be only eating breakfast and hitting the road. We need electric but don't need water or sewer provided the campground has a bathhouse.

Looking for close proximity to 75 is our biggest issue. Not an exact destination in mind, but we figured anywhere north of Cincinnati would be a good stopping point. While we don't want to spend $60 at a KOA, we also aren't interested in doing the free Walmart parking lot overnight.

ETA: We're also looking for a campground in Dayton to visit the Air Force Museum on our way home. If anyone knows of a campground near this place, we could potentially use the same campground to stop on our way there and back.

Wapak KOA might be one of the best KOA parks in the entire nation. We live near this park and I did notice that they were open when we passed last week. You will have a little I 75 noise. They even make pizza at the office that are a quality product.

I normally would never recommend a KOA, but there are a few good ones.

Wright Patterson AFB has a family camping area. Not sure if you need to be a veteran or not

If you are a Coast to Coast there is Lakewood Village Resort in Wapakoneta by the KOA. Same exit as the Space Museum. I-75 Exit 111 (Us-33 and I-75 area).

The KOA owners are awesome people and do a bunch of snow bird traffic. Sites are close but several pull though sites and they been doing upgrades to keep it nice.

The Glacier Hill Lakes is nice but mostly seasonal sights. Owners a pretty great guy.

Winton Woods is very nice. Reasonable price for what you get. Long level paved pull thrus.

Might look at Cedarbrook Campground, located about 6 miles from 75 in Lebanon, OH.

You might want to check Glacier Hill Lakes at exit 111 Wapakoneta. We have not stayed there, but it is listed as being open in winter and it is probably cheaper than the KOA. The phone number is 419-738-3005.

Take a look at Winton Woods. About 8 miles west of I-75, just south of I-275. Its a county park.

I know you said you aren't interested in KOAs, but we have stayed at 2 along that route that might be ok for brief stops for you.

We ended up at the KOA in Wapakoneta, Ohio for a couple nights several years ago, not having planned to be there - typical KOA, sites close together etc. Weather was lousy - pouring rain - so we wanted something to do, and we found a gem! Not only is that the hometown of Neil Armstrong, there is a delightful space museum there that we really enjoyed visiting. And not far away (I think about 1/2 hour drive at most) was the Airstream factory, where we got a tour. Opening date for this CG is given in the 2014 KOA book as March 15th, but the winter being what it has, you may want to check ahead.

We have also stayed at the Dayton KOA, probably 20 years ago by now. Much of it seemed to have nice space between sites, and lots of open area with lawn, ponds, etc. Granted, we were in a popup then; I don't know if the sites for bigger rigs were as pleasant as ours. Opening date given as April 1st.
