Campgrounds with River Access

We have been camping at Natural Bridge Yogi on the James River in Virginia for several years and really enjoy it. The staff and reservation process is just making it difficult to keep booking there. Looking for alternatives in the Virginia, DC, PA , Maryland area right on a river. Anyone have a campground they would recommend?

We love Fairystone State Park in Va. on a quiet lake, no gas motors, lots of hiking trails.

Several Virginia State Parks are located on rivers. Shenandoah River and Chippokes Plantation are 2. The campgrounds aren't right along the river, but nearby. In Pa Cook Forest State Park is along a river. And many more on lakes.

Curious as to what about a reservation process would be so off putting that you would stop going to a place you enjoy?
You would probably get a few better answers to your question if you included what you plan on doing once you have a site with river access. Do you fish, float, kayak, skip rocks etc. Do you need a boat ramp? Do you want your site to be on the water or just need the access? What area do you have in min?. I can point you to several parks in Montana on rivers, but I don't think that is going to help you. Good luck.
