Carolina Coast, anyone???

First off, let me say until I made the reservation to stay where I am now I have never heard of this park and have nothing to gain from starting this thread. I was up near the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and thought of revisiting Myrtle Beach.

Only thing is, I called the two major rv parks there and they seemed packed even in late September. For example, out of the almost 900 sites at Ocean Lakes, all they could offer me was a narrow, unpaved site in the back that was maybe a step above storage. Though I like the idea of being somewhat beach adjacent, the thought of being amongst that many other campers just did not float my boat.

So I looked around and found Brunswick Beaches Camping Resort in Sunset Beach, NC. True, it is not walking distance to the beach, but it is just a short drive to a great beach and pier and unfortunately for the owners the place is practically empty. As a full-timer, I do tire of being packed in with RVs within 12 or so feet on either side, so I am loving the serenity of not having a bunch of people around. Sure, there are not tons of events and other amusements, but as working full-timer not something I look for.

It just seems a shame that such a nice park is sitting here near empty while the places down in Myrtle Beach are packed. While I don't really want someone parking next to me, it just seems like this place has gone unappreciated for what it has to offer. I just wanted to bring it to the forum's attention in case someone was looking for a relaxing, affordable place to come hang out down by the NC coast. Their monthly rate is $525 + utilities.

Come on down and join me! Just not in the site next to me! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This shows the monthly lakeside (or "pondside" sites):

This shows the sites "inland" from the pond. There are more further back and to the left that are more shaded if you like that...

This shows a bit of the fishing/duck pond, the playground and tent camping area:

As you will see on their site, they do have a pool and currently you'd have it basically to yourself!

Thought I'd add another pic - this is the Sunset Beach pier:

2-3 miles but a quick drive since the bridge was built and it is a nice park; at one time a KOA, but one of the nicest I have seen. Great fresh seafood at Crabby Oddwaters.

While I've worked in the Carolinas and been thru Sunset Beach, I haven't camped there. Thanx for the photos. Looks like a nice park. Schools are back in session and the Canadian snowbirds haven't arrived yet. So, it might be the area's shoulder season. About 45 minutes and approximately 35 miles north of Myrtle, the weather should be about the same year round.

Actually there are more then 2 major CG's in the Myrtle Beach area. Pirateland, Lakewood, Ocean Lakes, Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Apache Family Campground, Myrtle Beach State Park; all ocean front. Then there are Cypress Camping Resort (new), Briarcliffe RV Resorts and Myrtle Beach KOA; all a short drive to ocean beach.
Checked them out, almost all have close to the beach sites available. Going to Lakewood on Wednesday.

Thing is. "Most" people that go to the beach. Want to be at the beach. they don't want to have to pack up, and drive to it every time they want to walk on the sand. In other words. If I drive 6 hours to the beach. I want it right in front of me.

However. There is other places to go where it is a little quieter. Like Surf City Family CG. Right on the beach. And the beach is pretty lonely. all year.
