AS others have said nice but expensive. Most CG in the area are not $100.00.
My real gripe is they have breed restrictions for pets. Obviously they don't want my $100.00 per night. I happily spend my $$ down the road at Frontiertowne

As far as the September bluegrass festival goes, it is a small to mid sized festival. The talent I guess is also midmarket. Plenty good enough for us. Not much late night picking. That is the best part of a BG festival to us. How much stage noise at campsite depends on where you are. We like as close to stage as possible but Castaways is huge so getting a far away site should be no problem.

We have only been to one really big BG Festival, Grey Fox, upstate NY.

Huge! No thanks. Been there done that. Won't be doing it again.

Also been to Poppy Mountain. Big. Difficult to describe. How many festivals have daily hangings, chicken sheet bingo & daily ATF & golfcart parades?

We like Frontier Town too but be prepared for it to be a golf cart race track in the summer.

My suggestion is pay the extra money to stay in the Club Castaways section of the park. It is a gated section with less than 40 sites. RV pad and seperate parking pad are both paved. If you have kids they can ride their bikes in this section without fear of being ran over, not so much in the rest of the park. Seperate pool, restroom, and piers from the rest of the park. Stay for a full week and the price drops below $100/night. We stayed a week last year and immediately booked again for next year. This is not our typical type of camping but more like using the camper as a beach condo for the week. They will deliver pizza joint type food, firewood, and ice direct to your camper. They have an on site Seacrets bar with live entertainment every night. Great sandbar off their beach to explore. Floating items in the bay for the kids to play on.

When we camp at Castaways we always request a site in the open field on the right that you pass before the office check in. It is grassy, spacious sites and much quieter than the other sites in the thick of the park. Our dogs are out of all the noise and commotion and don't have a lot to make them bark at.

Other than the national and state parks, all of the FHU commercial campgrounds in the area will run about the same price. You're paying for the OCMD location.

They were just acquired by Sun Resorts. I don't know if this is going to affect the service or the pricing. We were there for 10 days in August 2010. The current pricing is significantly higher since we were there. It is a wide open commercial campground but was very clean and offered great service. There was a free shuttle from the campground that will take you to Assateague or to OC a couple times a day... the beach and pools were nice as well. Be sure to visit the BBQ stand down the road on the way to OC.... awesome pulled pork!

Stayed there a couple times for a bluegrass festival in September. Nice enough CG if you want a big commercial CG. They have all of the ammenities one could possibly want.

Our preference is Assateague National Seashore, nearby. The horses come right through the sites there. The sites are huge & widely sepparated at a fraction of a Castaways price. However it is dry camping. I would think that mid summer is pretty miserable without power.

It's a busy campground, but it's a pretty nice one. It does lack shade - it's very open. Great for big rigs - there are a LOT of them there. We go every year in June and last year (when I was having toy hauler envy) there were tons of tri-axle 40+ foot toy haulers and huge class a's in there. The bay is awesome for the kids - they have a 'wipe out zone' of soft floating climbing stuff and my kids LOVE it. The bay gets about waist deep depending on the tides, and there is a huge sandbar that you can go out on and hang out for fishing or clamming. The pool is very nice, albeit small for the campground size, but we've always managed to have a good time in it. We don't drive into Ocean City for true beach, we drive to Assateage Island. I think it's 15 dollars for a full week pass, and it's a wonderful beach (no lifeguards), with nice parking lots. The toilets are outhouses, but they do the trick. There are showers to rinse feet and chairs off before you get back in car. The ponies are almost always around on the beach and often walk right down through the masses of people and get in the water. You do have to really watch them with food laying at your towels etc, because they will absolutely take a bag of Doritos out of your hands, and they aren't above snarfing a box of wine. Don't ask how we know this.

All that said, we really like it there, and prefer it over Frontiertown, which is right down the street.
