We would like to stop and spend a few days in Bosque Del Apache NM. Looking for a campground the end of November.
Good Sam is not showing but one near by. I know the Good Sam app misses a lot of other campgrounds sometimes. Hoping that's the case here.

Anything near by.

We were at Bosque Birdwatchers RV Park in January and Bill said he planned to close it after the cranes left. The phone number is sometimes answered and sometimes not, so keep trying. You could also call the Visitors Center at the Wildlife Refuge and ask them if it is still open. They have to drive right by it to work every day, so should know if it is closed.

Finally, a new RV park was opening just north of Bill's place when we were there in January. I don't remember the name, but seems like it was also a retail location--an art gallery, antique shop, or something like that. There are also supposed to be several campsites on some BLM land near I-25 in San Antonio, but I don't know where they are. Perhaps you could call the nearest BLM office to find the location.

I mentioned to several birder friends in Denver that Bosque Birdwatchers was for sale, but couldn't find any who were interested in buying it and moving to San Antonio, NM. Imagine that! How could anyone not want to move to the birthplace of, not only Paris Hilton's great-grandfather Conrad, but, more importantly, the green chili cheeseburger? Just imagine too Robert Oppenheimer, General Groves, and the boys stopping there for a quick green chili burrito breakfast while on their way back to Los Alamos after the Trinity test. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We used to stay at Bosque Birdwatchers because it was so handy to the Bosque del Apache. We were there just last fall. At that time Bill the owner was talking about closing (he had it up for sale). Last we heard it had been closed.

RvParky app and RvParkReviews.com show available RV sites in the region. One is just minutes away although it is not a resort style type park.

Thank you for all of the responses, I was thinking there had to be more campgrounds than I was finding in my search.

Boondock in the parking lot? They certainly have a lot of it............

Read thru posts of this lady's blog, she used to volunteer there. Has some pretty neat wildlife shots from there also.

https://winnieviews.blogspot.com/

There is a "Search This Blog" box on the right side. If you do a search for Bosque del Apache, you get a fair number of hits. As I mentioned, some pretty good pics too.

Just watch out for the packrats. She tells what to do, leave the hood propped open with a light on it in, encircle the RV with continuous rope lights, and you should be OK. Apparently pack rats hate light and wont go where there is any.

As above. I've stayed at Birdwatchers in January a couple of years ago. Very convenient, but not very scenic. Just a gravel lot.

I have not stayed here but have been by a number of times. It is right at the park.

I've stayed there, and it was fine. It was very convenient to visiting Trinity Site. Nothing fancy, it's pretty much a big gravel lot. The price was reasonable, and the owner was friendly.

We just stayed at Escondida Lake Park in Socorro earlier this summer. Quiet little place on a large pond/small lake. We had planned on staying several nights but a place opened up at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque so we only stayed one. It's not a destination park, but a fine place to stay.

Being a photographer I Need to be in Bosque Del Apache at sunrise and sunset. So I am hoping to find something a little closer than Elephant Bute. But it looks like slim pickings so far. I may have to drive that far each day x2 if Charley's doesn't pan out.

Strange that on the Good Sam app. Casey's doesn't show up. If I google it the first search item is a listing at "goodsam.com". It is there no problem. But not on their app on my iPad. Not good.
I assume you know of Cassey's because you are from NM.?
