has anyone gone to the Colorado River Adventures presentations? we are going this sunday. I know it's something of a timeshare/membership, but haven't heard anything about it. any feedback would be appreciated.
As has already been pointed out if you take the tour you cannot buy a used membership for two years. You can purchase used memberships on Craig's list for pennies on the dollar so be forewarned.

Like any other membership park the value is up to you! If you use it great if you don't it is a money pit. That said as others pointed out check for resales just verify what you are really getting. One of their parks is near Julian CA. KQ Ranch a really nice park but it is also the nearest to us and took 5 hours on a non summer/holiday weekend to get to! We would not use it enough to get value and we are not river fans which is where most the campgrounds are. But that is us if you like the river and spend time there every year might be worthwhile. Make sure you know ALL the costs though before you sign anything.

We went to one about 2005. The promotion we got was 4 nights/5 days, $50 cash, and a $25 gift card from Red Lobster. Hard to pass that up. Told the sales person up front that we were not buying. Sort of teed him off. I think it lasted about 30 minutes. They do have some nice Parks. We stay using RPI.
You can buy resale memberships for a fraction of the cost that you would pay CRA.
Keep in mind if you take the tour you will not be able to buy a resale membership from an existing member for a period of two years or more.
You're better off going to the park on your own and pay the nightly rate so you can check out the campground on your own, and if you decide to buy, then you can buy a resale membership on the cheap.
