I have not seen anything on the national news but there is a very large wildfire burning in CSP. Hwy 79 is closed from Maverick Junction to Hermosa. Many people have been evacuated or are on alert. The park is asking for donations to buy hay for the bison herd. Lot of information on their website.

Fires on the plains are not unusual or bad for the land. What disturbs me greatly is South Dakota needs donations to feed bison from normal fires? Bad planning? Bad budgetary decisions? If SD wants to continue as the custodian, get it together.

Winds are bad... and they haven't had much snow yet. Hope they get some water soon!
