Has anyone ever stayed at Dakota Ridge RV Resort in Golden CO before? We are looking for something that will allow us to stay for 6-10 weeks next summer, has full hookups and they seem to be able to accommodate that. Just wondering if anyone has ever stayed there before.

We have stayed at Dakota Ridge a couple times. Will not go back now that we have discovered Chatfield State Park. Half the price as Dakota Ridge and has full hookups as well as being quiet and better scenery. Dakota Ridge is on a busy street and has a tendency to be noisy. Also with Dakota Ridge don't expect to have the site you reserved available when you get there. That happened to us on our last vist and were stuck in a corner by storage rental units next door that emitted quite a bit of noise. I would suggest moving from state park to state park using the max day stay allowance. Just my 2 cents.

Busskipper has a good list and I would add DENVER WEST/CENTRAL CITY KOA CAMPGROUND to that list. Reason being is Denver still has a tendency to get "hot" during the summer, this KOA is up at around 8000' and will not be as hot. Still relatively close to Denver metro but you will get nice scenery/atmosphere where the campground is located. If here during 4th of July, you could probably even watch the Blackhawk/Central City fireworks display from your campsite.
I love me some land yachting

Here you go with 8 weeks - and after a few weeks out you can usually get back into the one you left, Reservations will be key as all these have been "Discovered" and stay full especially on the weekends.

What we would suggest is that you make reservations to work out with your needs and then schedule to take the Grand Kids into the Mountains for a trip or two or three + Although all these parks are great for just being close and keeping the kids - We used to do this years ago and the First GD'er still loves to go back to Golden and enjoy the town/parks/Creek - just a great spot to spend a few days with the kids, we did it when she was born (10 years ago - and often over the years) and we did it again with her three sisters just last summer - Had a BLAST!

Good luck - you can make it work - just need to be flexible (might even need to stay in a Wal*Mart or two - been there done that.

We stayed there two or three years ago. Nice place. There was a sign on the door warning to beware of rattlesnakes. I heard the next couple in line checking in asking each other what is a rattlesnake. I thought they must be joking. It turned out they were from the United Kingdom where those critters do not exist.

We stayed for 6 days last summer.
Paved roads and nice green grass!
Did not use the pool, bathrooms, etc.
A lot if not most of the park is on a slope.
Our picnic table was no where near "level". It would have not been comfortable to use. We didn't use it or need it.
We had to pay half of our total fee for a "non refundable" deposit when we made our reservation....What? We paid it.
We would stay there again! It served our purpose, well!
