Thanks everyone for you thoughts on Glacier camp grounds. I have made my reservations at the KOA west!

It does have a pool. Two actually -- one for families and one for adults only. And two adults only hot tubs. Actually felt awfully good to have some pool and hot tub time after the wonderful all-day hikes in Glacier National Park.

In regards to paying a premium to stay at the west KOA over many very nice parks I ask this question - are you going to Glacier to play in pools, etc, or are you there to see Glacier? Very many nice ones to choose from and some much closer to the Park.

Kalispell and Whitefish are much further away from the Park yet.

It doesn't get much closer to the park than the West Glacier KOA. Took us about 5 minutes to get to the entrance from the KOA. And actually, having the pool and hot tub for some relaxation after a long day of hiking in the park was really quite nice.

North American on the west side was the one I was trying to think of.....stayed there 2, maybe 3, times.

If you don't use a pool and all the wonderful goodies, why pay for them? ๐Ÿ™‚

We stayed at the KOA East in September, 2011. It was handy to all we wanted to do, including a day trip across the Canadian border to Waterton Lakes N.P. Stunning and worth the drive. It's all beautiful. Have a safe and wonderful trip.

Stayed at KOA East last June and would stay there again. The Jammer Tours pick up there (if you specify when you reserve), the staff is good, big laundry facility, pretty setting, big fenced dog park, and located close to the visitor center for the NP.

Check out North American RV Park in Coram which is close to the west entrance. Nice facilities and people.

And I second seeing Polebridge. Great place!

Be sure to drive the Going to the Sun Road both directions - the views are quite different each way.

No matter which side of the park you stay at, take the time to drive to the Polebridge Mercantile on the West side. Some of the road is a bit rough, but no problem for a tow or towed vehicle. The best cinnamon rolls & sticky buns I've had!

We have been to both east and west sides, the west side has so much more to offer. If you want to visit the east side just drive the Going to the Sun Road. The west side has many more campgrounds to choose from. The KOA, Columbia Falls RV Park, and Parks in Whitefish and Kalispell. Have fun the west side is beautiful.

Another vote here for the West Glacier KOA. Guessing it's probably already booked up though.

KOA on the east side. KOA on west side very expensive; I would look elsewhere. It has been a few years since we have been there (been there 3 times) so I am passing on making a recommendation there - there are some good places.

on my once in a lifetime visit to Glacier I'm not going to worry about a few extra bucks on the campground. as previously stated, the one on the West side was great.
