Hello Louisiana

Deb and I will be passing thru the lower half of Louisiana in late March. Never been there and would like recommendations on campgrounds and eateries. We try to stay out of the cities and enjoy the backwoods. Camping in Forest Service, COE's, state parks, and old deer hunting sites.
Looking online I see tours being offered for airboat rides and swamp tours. Sounds interesting. What will the weather be like that time of year?
Thanks for your comments.

You must indulge in crawfish, gumbo and boudin while there! Not a true experience if you leave that out of your visit!!

If at all possible, try to visit Breaux Bridge on a Saturday morning for breakfast at Cafe Des-Amis. Do a simple Google search for their zydeco breakfast.

And times two on Bayou Segnette while in the New Orleans area.

If your looking for backwoods camping, Lake Fausse Point State Park is very backwoods. Great campground for relaxing and fishing, but quite a drive from civilization.

Myers Landing south of Lake Arthur is interesting http://www.myerslanding.com/ . It's basically a fishcamp/huntcamp with full hookups and a store, friendly people.

Also bear in mind that Louisiana roads are best described as "corduroy."

Konriko is a brand of rice mixes, condiments, etc. the factory in New Iberia still uses turn of the century machinery to make their stuff. Plus they have a nice little video they play showing the history of the area.

Another great place to eat is Prejeans near Breaux Bridge.
